I though GWR were meant to be back of the queue for HST refurbs, yet they will soon have more sets than ScotRail and XC put together.
That’s what I thought the plan was. I know Wabtec are so far behind on refurbishing the MK3 coaches and ScotRail need 26 sets refurbed. XC are expecting 5 and GWR need 11.

43170 and 43098 are on GW01 today. Stupid pronunciation on the pre-recorded announcements. Truro pronounced ‘ Trooo-row’ rather than ‘Truro’. Incorrect stops read out on 0600 from Penzance this morning. After leaving Liskeard said next stop was Saltash , train stops at Menheniot and St Germans. After Keyham did not announce Dockyard but said next stop Devonport. Luckily guard was on the ball and intervened.

Same on the IET I am currently travelling on, saying Trooo-row.

The GWR system just ignores request stops.* Menheniot it ignored even on services where it is mandatory.

Newton St Cyres excepted. She also announces Thornford, Yetminster and Chetnole as being request stops on departure from Yeovil/Maiden Newton but this was a recent addition.

GW03 is booked to be ready on 11/02/19 and GW04 on 11/03/19 so it will be a few weeks yet before GW03 emerges.

Yep, 43005/094 the powercars taking it up :)
Are you sure it was 43005 as that is like this and has done for over a year. I think you mean 43155 as it hasn't been painted yet into GWR green.

If the guard had been 'on the ball', they'd have entered the correct code into the announcement system and the correct stations would have been read in the first place.

Request stops aren't ignored any more - the system has been updated so that the request stops are identified at the previous station - in this case, as the train departed Liskeard the following should have played: "Menheniot is a request stop. Please contact the conductor to arrange for the train to stop to allow you to leave" - or words to that effect. A trip to Barnstaple on Sunday demonstrated this in use.

The system does rely on train crew entering the correct code to enable the correct stopping pattern though - unlike IETs where the stopping pattern is dictated by the timetable file loaded into the TMS (much more flexibility for short term timetable changes, diversions etc.)

They are not just going there to get painted... Modifications to work with the power door sets too. Neither of these PCs has been modified yet, along with 43097/122/155/158/194 AFAIK.

Would it not have made more sense to have 43005+43041 to go up and the First blue power cars to go up in pairs i.e. 43094+43155. And I don't get why the mods on 43005 weren't done when they got painted at the time.

Let's clear this up.....

First, the four power cars initially repainted into green (43005/041/187/188) were not modified with traction/brake interlock when they were painted because the sliding door project was not authorised at the time, so the power cars to be fitted were not known.

Second, three of the four initial green power cars (43041/187/188) were modified with the interlock at Landore, so do not need to go to Wabtec. Landore has historically been used by GW, back from BR days, for this sort of mod programme - for example, Landore did most of the ATP fits to power cars. Obviously Landore is now shut, but 43005 still needs to be converted, hence the move to Wabtec. Quite why GWR didn't get Landore to modify 43005 before it closed is a question for GWR.

Third, GWR power cars so far modified with the interlock are 43004/016/040-042/092/093/098/153/154/170/186-189/194/198. This leaves 43005/094/097/122/155/158/192 to be done, of which 43005/094 are at Doncaster.

That clears that up then.

GW01 today correct PIS code entered, Train departs Liskeard Next stop St. Germans train stops at Menheniot on departure Next stop Saltash. The system still doesn't work correctly with request stops. Today's Power Cars 43186 & 43092 anyone interested, New DSB coach looking very smart (48105)

I am assuming it will be the May timetable change that some of the GTI sets will start work on the Cardiff <> Taunton route releasing turbos for other routes?

How many 4 car HSTs will GW have in total? Is it 5?
I assume when they say "operating between Penzance and Cardiff it's referring to Penzance to Plymouth/Exeter and Cardiff to Taunton routes as opposed to a direct through service between Penzance and Cardiff?

11 sets are being retained for GWR.

That's correct, stretches within the route between Cardiff and Penzance as well as through.
