Keeping this, roughly, on a railway theme: may I propose Elgar House, a monstrous 1960s building plonked right in front of the rather lovely Worcester Shrub Hill station?

I love Preston Bus Station. Was very happy when it was Grade listed.

If we're counting buildings that have since been demolished too, I'd say Paragon House outside of what's now Hull Paragon Interchange.

(Source: Wikimedia).

The first time I went to Hull this was still standing and it was the first thing that greeted me on arrival into Hull and kind of left me with a bad impression of the city, I've since been back several times since it's been demolished, the area around the station, St Stephens shopping mall and the City centre it's self have all seen huge improvements and now I rather like Hull, very under-rated city with a reputation it doesn't really deserve any more.

Although the first time I visited Hull was in 1999, I never visited the city centre during the time Paragon House was still standing and only did so after the St Stephens shopping mall was built. There's many people I've seen on a Facebook group about the history of Hull complaining that the St Stephens shopping mall and the changes to the train station to be several steps backwards.

I personally like Hull so much I'm seriously considering moving there.

Ladies and gentlemen I give you Brunel House in Portsmouth. This one is another case of neglect as it has been derelict for 30 years

Yes, or else it would've faced demolishing.

Not the UK, but some of the tall towers in big Chinese cities are some of the most horrid I have ever seen. Devoid of character and not like the rich architecture they normally have.

Yeah that's pretty bad. Even the blue sky isn't helping...

Cleaned up that wouldn't look too bad to me. Again neglect has played a part in its appearance.

It wasn't neglected, they looked after it. The trouble was it was massively out of scale for the rest of the town and the concrete discoloured very very quickly. Concrete normally does.

Anyway, I nominate the Durham Students' Union building. As hideous to work in as it was to look at.

That is fairly disgusting. And I thought Cardiff Uni's was bad. The way it's just plonked by the river is gross.

Yesterday, I saw the Redrock, passing through Stockport. I retract my previous statement; really doesn't look that good in the flesh.

I don't think it's that awful - it could perhaps do with a clean, but I do quite like it.

My old school was a 1960s concrete affair which was looking a bit tired (and you'd find buckets littering the corridors when it rained). It was given a coat of paint which freshened up the exterior a bit, but I suppose it was probably costing a lot to maintain, and they eventually decided to demolish and rebuild. I'd imagine it would would have looked superb when first build, though. I was a bit sad to see it go.

Intercity house just above Plymouth rail station is not so good looking and gives Plymouth an unwelcome response when you arrive by traintr

Like most 1960/70's buildings, the main thing that's wrong with it is that it's dirty.

Give it a good clean and sort out the ground floor with some greenery and it wouldn't be at all unattractive.

Every time that i see it, it gets uglier. I dont think a clean would wash the ugliness away...
