Off topic completely but how I wish they had a designated railway station or subway station at the QEUH. How much time and effort could be saved travelling from the east end every morning!

Cardonald station isn’t too far if you work in Neurosurgery! Used to leg it in about 10mins. I suppose they could somehow extend the line along Govan Road....

314212 is being taken to Glasgow Works this afternoon (5T06 1418 departure) to be stripped of useable parts and scrapped on site. Runs under it's own power Yoker to Eastfield, pans down for the last time then hauled by 37800 the mile or so into the Works.

Very sad to hear about the imminent demise of 212. I hope one of the units can be preserved in some form but have my doubts.

I'm going to be harsh - it's an old lump of metal and the good news is it's being replaced by something newer and more reliable. Would like to see one preserved though but not in use.

Still sad, 212 was the one that was caught in a flood many years ago if I'm correct, and it's the image for the Wiki article on the Class 314.

It's going to be very strange arriving into Glasgow Central and not seeing 314s buzzing around working various suburban services, but it is an end of an era when the final 314 turns a wheel in service.

Anyone got an inkling if Scotrail (or it's employees) are planning a farewell tour now they are on borrowed time? I know it's been asked before by quite a few people, but nobody has confirmed or denied it, or even mentioned a 'thinking about it'. Would love to see one of these get to Alloa (as a one time thing) as part of a tour before they go. I know this probably won't happen due to route clearance and paperwork, etc...but can dream!

According to my notes it was stood down from traffic on 21st Sept, and moved to Yoker the following day - it had been there ever since, until earlier today.

Hope this helps.

Hopefully they will do a farewell tour of sorts, as it could also appeal to us track men if they throw in some odds & sods red track in the Glasgow area along the way

Thanks for that, was just interested as I got my only pic of it on the 15th Sept

Aparently the other two sets will also be heading to the Works soon for component recovery.

204 and 213 looked pretty forlorn at Yoker earlier today. There was also a red headlight stuck to 204. Not sure what that means, but I’ve seen the same thing displayed on the back of unpowered carriages so perhaps these units will be towed to Glasgow Works rather than work under their own power to Eastfield as 212 did yesterday. Perhaps someone who works for the railways can confirm what this means.

I was passing through Glasgow at lunchtime today and saw quite a few 314’s.

314201, 314206 and 314209 were stabled at shields, 201 was stabled next to the withdrawn 206. Both had their pantographs down.

At Glasgow central

314216 was on the 12.12 to Paisley canal and 314203 on the 12.42 service
314208 was on the 12.25 to Gourock
314215 was on the 12.19 service from Newton
314211 was on the 12.45 to Newton and 314214 on the 12.51 Cathcart outer circle service.

They definately have to do a farewell tour for the 314. They did something similar for the Class 303s. Dare I say it’ll probably be Motherwell-Balloch or something along those lines as that’s the routes they were introduced on and worked on for many years. I can see it relating to the Argyle Line somehow. Although I agree it would be fab to see them go via Queen Street at some point!

Angel Trains said they would preserve a 314 so hopefully they do something with them!

210 and 214 are on the 7.55 Neilston to Central this morning, I’m sitting on 210 now.

Reliability of these sets is notably poorer these days. Class 318/320/380 popping up on diagrams regularly now.

3 car 380 was on a 314 turn this evening on the 1751 Cathcart Circle.
