] IMG_20190102_153941414.jpg 2nd refurbished buffet 10219 has made it down and its planned to enter service in Fridays up. This means you have tonights up and Thurs down to sample the delights of FTPE/AGA white 10229 before it comes out as spare, subject to interior lighting working...... !

A friend is on tonight's 1A40 from PNZ. I can confirm that 10229 is in the consist.

Sleeper loco failed in Reading station after detachment from the up sleepers. Platform 10 partly blocked.

Either 57604 or 57605.

57605 was the Pilot Loco and stables in Reading Stn after detaching from 1C99, the down Beds. It failed this morning when due to attach to 1A40, the Up Beds.
57604 was scrambled from the TCD to become the Pilot Loco.

57605 still sat silent at West end of p10 Reading for anyone interested. Pleasant surprise this am, unless you are heading to London or a signaller.

If you want classic seating, looks like white buffet 10229 will still be in operation this week as newly returned from Wolverton 10217 has severe electrical problems.....,thanks !!

Today it was turned at Reading so seating now correctly at berth end. SLEP 10594 also turned so finally, all coaches face correct direction.
This move shown after reversal at Didcot North Junction with 57602, I believe the other loco was 57604. Confirmation appreciated.IMGP5185_DxO.jpg

Regarding the depot open day I was told it will take place on Saturday 13th April, is that correct?

The bus running day is on Sunday 21st April.

I was hoping they would take place on the same weekend.

White buffet 10229 shunted out of set today, now as spare. This means tonights service, both 1A40 and 1C99 will be made up of 100% refurbished stock for the first time.

10232 was sat spare in Reading TCD on Saturday. Is that going to get refurbished as well?

232 is now off lease. Any takers for preservation are urged to contact Porterbrook directly and soon !
And advised that they need deep pockets - it's knackered.

That said, anyone wanting a modern kitchen/buffet would be advised to have a look - those in Long Marston are at least as bad, and mostly in worse condition. Not many RFMs left now though....

I haven't been following the thread vehicle wise but concentrating on the locomotive aspect but I have a little query. The consist of 1A40 last night showed vehicle 6348 (barrier ? ) next to the loco (57306) and am just wondering the thinking is behind this. Will look forward to an explanation, thanks.

Got shunted out of the set today, coupled to the other barrier vehicle then 57604 took them both to SPM (5F74 Reading TCD - SPM) then deposited them there and returned Light Engine to Reading as it’s the pilot loco for 5C99 tonight.
