quicker and easier to dump a few surplus 313 or ,315s on the job from HE or IL ...the TFL boys should be savvy with em....rather than mess around breaking and shortening units until the specified "new kit" arrives...the beauty of 313 also, it will break in the new string, load bank test it etc...
Need guards. Explained why they can’t be used about a gazillion times up thread already.

I notice the press release says 'next week' and not 'Monday'. Hope they're ready in time, otherwise there's gonna be some gaps tomorrow.

And earlier in the press release you’ve just questioned...

Passengers on London Overground's Gospel Oak to Barking line will see a mixed fleet of trains operating from Monday 28 January, as an interim measure until the delayed new electric 'Class 710' trains are delivered by the manufacturer, Bombardier Transportation, are ready for passenger service.

If that doesn’t mean the 378 is going into service tomorrow I don’t know what does.

You'd do well to read up the thread; it's been covered a few times. There are no platform monitors for DOO dispatch on the GOBLIN; it must be trains that have cameras mounted on board the train itself. 378s fit the bill. 313s, 315s, 345s etc. do not. There are also no staff trained and in place to do assisted dispatch, so the line will remain DOO.

Would there be anyone who could post the Sunday diagrams for me please, I'm in London Sunday before I catch the beds north and I'm trying to cover the line for EMU's

Well, it would appear TfL have pulled off a successful failure. Actually hats off to them for making the best out of a ****ty situation!

I took the 12:48 from Barking to Upper Holloway this afternoon and was pleasantly surprised after l number of sluggish diesel journeys to have a nice smooth electric train ride!

The Passenger Information System was working fine and had extra announcements about the weekend reduced service. There were better interchange announcements than on the 172's but a couple that only worked if you knew exactly what was meant:
Harringey Green Lanes: Change here for National Rail services. (The new line map correctly shows that they are from Harringay station)
Upper Holloway: Change here for London Underground Northern line. (No reference to Archway station)

Other improvements were correctly announced:
Wanstead Park mentioned TfL Rail from Forest Gate; Walthamstow Queen's Road mentioned Victoria line from Walthamstow Central, and South Tottenham mentioned Victoria line from Seven Sisters.

It seems they're getting quite good at it, with 345s to Hayes & Harlington too!

Not sure why they left the other one at Rugby!

Interestingly 172006 had moved from the terminal platforms at Rugby between heading north to Wilmslow around 1130, and returning past at about 1700 yesterday.

Think you are looking at the wrong diagram, it moved to Tyseley via Coventry and Leamington about midday yesterday

I had a little spin on the 378 yesterday. Some slight confusion for passengers as new stopping positions are active for all trains on platforms. While not hugely busy mid afternoon there were a lot of people with buggies and some with cycles so the extra vestibule / stand back space was well used. Unsurprisingly the acceleration is far better than a 172 so although we were a little delayed because of late running freight trains the driver made up time where she could.

Looking on realtimetrains the 4 car 378 had the least deviation from schedule in the AM peak - all the doors and space helping to minimise dwell times. Meanwhile the 172s were, as usual, several minutes late because of the overcrowding.

A few phone camera snaps of the 378 are on are my Flickr account for those who may be interested. https://www.flickr.com/photos/24759744@N02/

I thought that bit was achieved on the date always planned, although using 7 car not 9? The problem on the GW is that they should be running to Heathrow as well...

Seems to be used on the same diagram as yesterday as I'm currently on on the 15:57 ex Leytonstone High Road. Strange not facing forward on this route but I hate the fact there's no luggage racks <(

Perhaps they should have ordered more 378s
They had enough to do the routes prior to the GOBLIN electrification. By the time they needed more electric stock, Bombardier had ceased production of Electrostars.

Interesting to see they have changed all the stopping positions for the 172s today. They now stop in the same position as a 4 car train, i.e. near the end of the platform in the running direction. There were posters up about it at all the stations.
