Could be tricky now that quite a few have gone to other operators who are now running them.

Dave

No Devon county contracts have gone to other operators. DCC gave them a deadline of mid December to get a new licence and keep their contracts.
It’s Plymouth City Council who have stripped them of everything and retendered everything. I believe though that the PCC contracts were due natural renewals as PCB also lost a couple of contracts.

Under most such circumstances- if it's a new legal entity and/or O Licence, the local authority would need to re-tender.....

It’s the same legal entity. It’s the legal entity the contracts are awarded to so unimpacted

Thanks - understood. Still surprised- most local authorities would take the view that no O Licence = unable to operate = breach of contract = termination. Resulting in probably temporary cover plus then a re-tendering exercise.

But the legal entity has a continuous O Licence so your theory isn’t relevant here.
Target have been granted a 17 disc licence on the same legal entity.

Those were the routes that were tendered by Plymouth City Council, also the PR3 that Plymouth CityBus took over. The routes that Target are apparently retaining are the ones contracted to Devon County Council.

Sorry I'm now confused. I thought their licence had been revoked, and they had applied for a new one? If this is the case, there is a period during which they had no O Licence....

No there hasn’t been a period without a licence.
The 40+ disc was given notice of revocation in the summer due to them not Having adequate finances in place for that size operation. Originally the notice was for late October, but the TC extended it until end of December when they applied for a new licence, as they had considerable finance available just not enough. Their new licence was granted last week and is valid immediately. Therefore the revoked licence was valid until 31/12/18, and the new licence for 17 vehicles is valid from a date in the last week.
The new licence now replaces the revoked one immediately

They seem to change more than I have hot dinners. Can’t be good for passengers so many changes?

Plymothian Transit website reports that 436 (X571 EGK) , 437 (X702 EGK) & 404 (PN02 XCG) withdrawn recently.

Presumably some of the ex London E400’s are in use. Any observations?

According to the Tamar Crossing's twitter feed a bus was leaking fuel near the bus stop by the Torpoint Ferry which had to be towed. Does anyone know what bus that was?

Lucky that didn't happen on the ferry: that would have been another ferry out of action all day, or even longer!

An anonymous comment on the Plymothian Transit website suggests these vehicles may actually be for the 50/51, although I will take that with a pinch of salt. The Companies House report merely states:

These buses will be introduced on the core route that links the City Centre to the Hospital. A route with strong passenger growth, in the growth area of the city.

The 50/51 requires 10 buses to run the daytime Mon-Fri timetable so I would have thought it would be the 42/42A/42B/42C/42D that the new buses are destined for.

A photo of 256 is attached at Okehampton Station last Sunday. This was the first bus to visit the station for 3 years. The 279 provides a scenic railway bus link to the Moors. It is funded by CrossCountry via its community engagement fund and is a tourist service so concessionary passes are not valid. It links Gunnislake station with Okehampton station via Mary Tavy, Brentor and Lydford.IMG_2508 (2).JPG
