Thanks for the insight good to hear it’s all positive. Do you know if you remain on the initial training salary regardless of how long the training period extends?
Once you serve a year in service your pay will go up regardless if you are qualified or not

Hi, no haven't been told anything at all, and we've asked but no one has gotten back to us with anything. I did read in a document yesterday though that we only get given annual leave after 3 months of commencement of the contract and then it's only 2 days per completed month of service for the first year.

Don’t expect much whilst in training but at the same time, don’t be surprised if they tell you on the Friday that you’ve got next week off. Regardless, you will be compensated by given actual AL or lieu leave if can’t be taken by year end, subject to time limits.
Afternoon everyone. Sorry if i'm repeating something that's already been answered,new to the forum. I got given the good news on monday that I'd passed my MMI and am now waiting for a date on DMI. Is there a rough timescale or just as and when they're ready. Sorry again if this has already been answered....cheers
What depot did you apply for because a few of us are still waiting for our dmi.

Everything is going really well, haven't had a moments doubt that this was the right choice to make, and am glad I'm here.
First week is a bit slow, although you get to meet important people in the company and they all take time out to come and introduce themselves which is appreciated, however it's tiresome because you're just being talked at all day. Once your company induction is over with, and partially the operational induction and you start your actual training it'll become clear whether this is the role for you or not, and there's few and far between that drop out at any point.
Definitely bring a notepad and pen, although everyone gets issued an ipad, personally I purchased a Bluetooth keyboard so I can take notes more easily with that, however sometimes you're placed in situations where these devices aren't allowed, so pen and paper is vital.
Your first assessment is 2 weeks from starting, but don't get in a fuss about this you'll all be fine, believe me!
There is an outline of the training available, a basic one is available in most rooms at St Mary's Axe and you've probably seen this anyway, a more detailed one can be found in an app once they give you the ipad.
Training can be completed in as little as 9 months is everything goes to plan, however currently we're looking at 15months because of a lack of instructors.
I'd say to interact with the group as much as possible, the more you give the more you get. Don't be afraid to make suggestions to answers, I find id prefer to give a wrong answer and know it's wrong and find out the correct answer rather than sitting quiet and never knowing. So ask, ask, ask! There's a lot of self learning, you're not spoon fed, so be prepared to put in work, but it's not all consuming, it's very managable.
Everyone is genuinely friendly, and if you have any questions dont be afraid to ask the other drivers hanging around any questions, we've all been in the same position at some point.
You won't get your staff oyster card until about 3 weeks in, and your rail discount card until around 4 weeks in, so be prepared to put money in to get to St Mary's Axe everyday until then. However you can apply for a 'Residential Travel Card' for train journeys to work from your first contracted day for season tickets on other Rail networks giving you 75% and you have to apply for this off your own back so don't hang around.
Days generally last from 9am and finish no later than 4pm. When I get home I'll generally put about an hours worth of work in myself too, or whilst travelling on the train.
Microwaves are available so bring in food as its not cheap around there.
Can't think of anything else right now, just bring the right attitude, be grateful of being a select few (in the grander scale of things) who are lucky enough to be in our situation, and work hard to get where you need to go. It's fun, I love it and the team I'm with (@JSegat) we've bonded really well which really helps.

I'm an overtime junkie (I've averaged 60 working hrs a week over the last year, inc. Leave), are there any opportunities for overtime?
And what's their attitude to secondary employment? (I could keep a 1hr a week contract where I am and take overtime at the weekends)
Which isn't meant to indicate that I will, or I want to, but it does indicate that I wanna know what my options are.

MMI... 4 week wait for invite to make a DMI appointment..... then DMI two weeks later... then 14 working day wait [over Christmas, which was almost torture] to hear I'd passed and was invited to sign a Contract and get a start date... one week later I got the security/references screening email, next week I got [after emailing to ask if there was anything I could do to get things going] I got a medical and Documents check and Uniform fitting... two weeks later I'm still getting emails asking for more details for the Security/referencing checking [basically repeating myself, but different parts of the form are dealt with by different departments of Capita/Voltscure and it looks like they don't exchange information].

I’ve got my DMI for old oak common in less than 2 weeks (I initially applied for the east depot). Do you have any tips for the interview?
Got my email yesterday to book myself in for my DMI and chose one in 3 weeks time so I have plenty of time to prepare! I’ve applied for the east so have to wait and see what happens.
And in terms of time scales, I had my MMI on the 16th November so it’s been just over 2 months! But I was then sent email saying about east being put on hold and being put into a holding pool and that’ll I’ll get an interview end of Jan/beginning of Feb, so they have atleast stuck to there word with that!

Ive been waiting 3 weeks on Monday since being accepted and still no security or medical contact. Do you have an email address i could contact them on?

Booked in for Feb 22nd! Location has changed online but to my knowledge I’ve still applied for Gidea Park so will just go along and see if anything gets mentioned . They must be starting to book east depot interviews in it seems so sit tight, sure you’ll hear over the next week! I just want to hve the interview now so at least I’ll know my fate.

I personally would forget the idea of overtime and secondary employment.
They give you rest days and free days to relax and take stock. The more you drive, the more chance there is of something happening. By the end of a week or a set of 8 weeks working you can be mentally and physically exhausted.
You'll be earning a good wage so enjoy the fruits of your labour.
I don't mean to come over as a Debbie Downer - and you may need the cash, but once you start you'll see what I mean.

Hey, I wanted to ask a question please?. How long is the classroom training at Liverpool Street please? I am a bit of a gym junkie and I will probably end up joining a gym in Liverpool steet so I can go before class. Just wondering if we Are in class for a whole 3 months so I know how long to join up for? Not so easy to answer, as how long training takes depends on what trainers are available, this includes getting past classroom based training. I'd suggest getting somewhere with multi gym access, where there's one close to Liverpool St and your home, that way won't matter too much
