Applied and got

We thank you for your interest in applying with us.
We are sorry to inform you that you do not meet the minimum criteria for this vacancy.

However, you may wish to consider signing up for job alerts on our careers site and/or applying for other vacancies we are advertising for which you may be eligible.

Your Answers
Have you previously applied for a Drivers role in the past 6 months and been unsuccessful at any stage of the recruitment process?
Yes

Previous question was have you applied and failed any assessments which I answered no, but answered yes for that question as DMI is part of the recruitment process?

Thoughts?

The testing is six month rule with any company. The dmi only applies to the company you failed with.

Think they’ll accept applications from those willing to relocate? No mention in the ad of having to live within 60mins etc. I’d relocate for it

My feeling is they mean with GTR when they ask about applying previously for a drivers role but its not that clear is it?

The six-month rule only applies to psychometric tests: if you fail any particular psychometric test then you must wait at least six months before you can reattempt that particular psychometric test; If you have failed any particular psychometric test then on two occasions then you may never again take that particular test.

The DMI is not a psychometric test: there is no RSSB rule stopping you from failing it as many times as you like. You could, in theory, fail a DMI every day of the week and still keep on applying.

Bang those applications in as often as possible, it's a numbers game, you'll succeed in the end.

So where it says ‘Have I failed any test in 6 months’ not sure what to put here. As I failed the advance Test with arriva but passed the national test with SWR and through to the interviews

I know southern take standard not advance so I don’t want to put ‘Yes’ and it come back that I do not qualify for the role but I also don’t want to lie.

Any advice

Congratulations on not failing any tests and commiserations that you didn't score highly enough to be accepted by Arriva.

Question, I’m to the medical stage already for T/L but we’ve been waiting an age in the talent pool. I could realistically apply for these Southern jobs as we’ve family in the area we could move to. So the question, do you think I can have 2 applications in at the same time? I’m trying to judge what is best. Keep waiting or hedge my bets and get an application in for this one too. I don’t want to jeopardise my existing one though (being already through to the talent pool with T/L . I’m just tired of waiting and worried it may never happen). I’d be happy to hear any of your thoughts before I apply or not...

May be worth speaking to HR as it gets complicated in the fact its the same TOC however obviously they are run as separate brands operationally. I would not want someone to tell you the wrong thing and as you say it jeapodizes your chances. GTR recruitment are pretty helpful.

Hi guys,

I have tried to apply for the Trainee positions with Southern and I had marked that I had attempted and fail the assessment day and doesn't let me change it.

The situations is that in November I have failed the Day Assessment with Freightliner, but I failed their enhanced one, but passed the National Standard. I am wondering now if I was supposed to tick that I actually didn't fail. Is there anything I can do now?

Can you try and apply with different email address and then add all this info in supporting information ?

Yep I think that's the best plan, and I think others have done it. Its a badly worded and confusing part of the application form!

I have tried, but is saying the system saw this as a duplicate account. I've sent them a message, but I don't expect an answer to soon. Thanks for your help, anyway.
