Has anybody who did the stage 1 assessments last week at Newton Abbot had results back yet?

I had my email about 7PM the same day (30th) advising I'd passed stage one. No idea if anyone else in my group has passed but I'd love to know.

Yeah I got my results (as in pass or fail) the evening of my assessment. No further detail on the standard of the results tho.

Check you emails or your online application page.

Curious how many will be in the final assessment stage. I'm stressing over the interview a bit but hopefully it won't be as painful as I'm expecting it to be!

Have you had an invite to assessment 2 yet?

Just received my email asking to book my final assessment. 26/27 January.

Interestingly, it advised its an individual excerise followed by the group excercise. Then the interview.

So I'm thinking the individual excercise is probably a role play...

Evening all

Just noticed they’re advertising the Exeter Conductor job again!

What you reckon, another vacancy come up or more applicants needed for the original job?

My guess is more applicants are required. Seems odd they have advertised again before deciding how many they want from the first lot.

Oh well, fingers crossed anyway!

Is anyone else struggling with preparing for the interview? I've never had a competency based interview and, although I've got a decade's worth of continuous customer service experience, it's pretty difficult prepping answers for dozens of potential questions with individual stories.

Yep, I’m finding it a struggle as well. Articulating my customer service experiences in my career is not quite the same as your standard customer service role. I just hope they will see through my babble!

First post here!

Applied for the aforementioned role on Saturday and completed the initial online assessment Saturday evening.

Communication thus far from GWR (albeit automated) has been very good. Is anyone able to confirm how the assessment is scored? i assume an automated points system with the top answers being scored higher than say some less so.

With that in mind when would i likely hear back? as said i have had confirmation emails throughout the application process however am just slightly nervous now!

Admittedly found the test very tricky balancing the health and safety aspect with the customer service aspect so not 100% sure i have done well enough to get through.

The post is set to close tomorrow so would assume if i don't hear back by tomorrow my application was unsuccessful. in that event would they email me to my personal and on my profile on the website to inform me?

Found this forum very useful and informative so any help is greatly appreciated!

So i've passed the Enhanced Customer Services SJT and have been sent another online assessment.

Next one is the CAT Numerical reasoning test. Anyone have any advice or idea as to what to expect with this one?

I did this at the weekend. You get three warm up questions before the test starts so it doesn’t throw you right in the deep end and is multiple choice throughout. Have a pen and paper to hand and make sure your not going to be disturbed. If maths isn’t your strong point........your not going to like it. I thought my maths was quite strong but I found it taxing, a very good test for whittling down their numbers I would imagine.

I've read some mixed reports, is it a timed test online? Basic maths isn't too much of a problem its when it gets into the tricky stuff i start panicking!

It’s not a timed test, however the explanation before you start it is that the speed in which you answer affects what question you get next was my understanding. You cannot go back once you have given your answer aswell, so make sure your happy before you move on.

Yes. I passed assessment 1 a year ago and was unsuccessful at assessment 2 shortly after.

i think i'll spend a bit of time brushing up on my percentages, mean mode median etc before leaping into it. It states 48hrs to complete assume thats from when they emailed me the link to the assessment.

So completed the assessment this evening, took 55 minutes to complete, as LMC mentioned some of the maths involved was seriously tricky. i felt i done ok on it but only time will tell.

With that does anyone know how long it takes for results to come back after completion?

I would imagine now the post has closed that you should hear something fairly soon, but equally you may not hear anything for weeks or months. One thing I will say from personal experience with GWR though is that when they have an answer either way they will email you, I’ve had a 4 month wait before!

Well I had my 2nd Assessment yesterday and sadly was unsuccessful. Actually I'm unsure if any of the group were successful as I was the 4th elimination out of the 5 of us. They gave great feedback though so I'll definitely be trying again.

I never want to hear the words "Bronzo" or "SuperBronzo" ever again though...

I fell at the same hurdle last year so know how disappointing it is. Does the session hold a similar format I.e split into small teams for a presentation then round a table group for a group work exercise? Superbronzo means nothing to me!!

The first task was two groups with a flip chart each. Each group had a different question written on it in which they had to write their answers and then present after ten minutes.
Second was a full group task. We had an hour to decide between us if we should market a new type of sun cream.

There's only so much you can talk about when it comes to suncream...

Then we went outside and were called back individually to be given feedback and be sent home or taken to interview.

So it was one set of eliminations after both assessments, not stages of eliminations if you get my meaning.
