I have seen a post on another forum saying the 3 car 150 idea has been shelved, anyone able to confirm?

I have seen a post on another forum saying the 3 car 150 idea has been shelved, anyone able to confirm?

I understand Northern are having a rethink about creating as many three car 150s as were originally promised. The reason is said to be the risk to reliability of spliting up and reconfiguring 30+ year old formations.

There may now only be four three cars: the two prototypes 150s (001/002) currently at GWR and re-reconfigured 150 125/126 (using the odd vehicles that currently make up 150 209).

Or, ARN might change their minds again...

Apparently the first electric trains are in service on the Bolton route today with 319s.

Which services please?

Seen else where
Vic-Buckshaw
Preston-Airport
Blackpool N-Picc
Non of the above is fully covered by electrics, think the Preston’s and Blackpool’s are about 33% and buckshaw is 1 unit . Just goingoff what I’ve read in other threads. So probs about 5/6 diagrams have gone electric

I hope now Electrics are in service diesels can be cascaded to allow Northern to fulfil some of its franchise commitments in May and December. When will the May timetable appear on RTT?

Anyone know how many of the 16 158s (14 Perkins engine plus 2 Cummins) have transferred NL to Heaton. Has anything gone South to replace them?

Thanks.
Anyone know if these 4 units (are they more?) now transferred to Heaton from NL.
Have anything gone the other way?

158853 and 158860 were both around Leeds yesterday, which suggests no 158s have transferred to Heaton

I think that is the case as 158871 worked the 0925 Carlisle - Leeds this morning
Yes it worked 2H63 Carlisle-Leeds, but then 2H92 Leeds-Carlisle. No 158's on Tyne Valley today (Sunday)

158851 was working 2H90 Leeds-Carlisle, then 2H65 Carlisle-Leeds, which is supposed to be a Heaton unit.
158868 was working 1Y18 Nottingham-Carlisle, then 1E20 Carlisle-Nottingham-NL unit.
Looks like the HT/NL allocations are on paper and they are treated as a common pool. Time will tell.

Just found 158871 returned to leeds on 2H67 Carlisle-Leeds. Interesting to see what works Monday's 2A02 06:30 Carlisle-morpeth

A common pool just like Heatons 142/156 can always be seen on Newton Heath diagtams in the North West.

The diagram starting 5A00 ex Heaton is 158843-HT unit today.
The diagram starting 2A02 Ex Carlisle is 158845-NL unit today.
So 845 replaced 871 which went down the S&C yesterday on 2H67. 845 presumably worked up on 2H66 Leeds-Carlisle.

Not sure if this is the right place to post this so here goes

I am sure i travelled on 156433 08.02 Piccadilly to Salford Crescent on my outing around Northern territory on 16/02.Looked as though recently refurb in Northern Livery/interior. All the records i have access to show this as a Corkerhill unit. Do i need a trip to Soecsavers or is this unit now part go the Northern flleet
Thanks
Martin

There have been several transfers of 156s as well as 158s and 170s from Scotrail to Northen. Well documented

I'm pretty sure 156433 is a Scottish unit. If my memory serves me right, it was once the SPT carmine and cream livery guinea pig (the roof-line treatment was different to the rest)

156433 is still a ScotRail unit and isn't one of the ones transferred to Northern. Unless one is now hired in to cover services in the North West (not impossible considering there is a hired in unit in the north east each day, but unlikely) then it won't have been 433 that was seen in Salford. The 156s transferred to Northern are 447, 449, 465, 485 and 496.

The OP does hint at some uncertainty so perhaps mistaken identity
