Fun and games aboard 1C99 tonight. Train supply gave up not far out of padd and we spent 10 minutes in Slough rebooting it.

Does anyone know if any seats are unreservable? I have an online booking for five, and it auto-selected A 27, 37, 38, 41 and 42. Just tried to get GWR to change 27 for a seat closer to the rest of us, and they say they are reserved, but can't say where between, so I wondered if actually, they are non-reservable?

Would have been PZ89 as it’s tonight’s Down Sleeper set.

The last formation sheet I saw for PZ89 (dated the 24/02) had the following vehicles:

17173 12142 10219 10601 10584 10534 10594

For completeness PZ88 (dated 25/02) contained the following vehicles:

17175 12100 10229 10616 10563 10589 10596

I can only presume 10217 is sat spare at Long Rock.

10217 wasn't sat spare in Long Rock this morning at 10am, only 12161,10612 and 10590. It could of course have been in the shed.

@spw24

According to today’s Sleeper Status update, 10217 is at Reading for Tyre Turning so will probably be in the Wheel Lathe Shed.

Also showing as spare at RG is 10612.

White buffet 10229 reverting to spare today.
Its common knowledge that an extra sleeping coach should be added every day from may but currently unconfirmed is, long term from next year, another will also be added, vehicles ex Scotrail and refurbished. This will make 6 weekday and 7 on Fri down/sun up.
Service fin/start at Plymouth this weekend due to engineering work.

That will be one long train by september.

Sorry.

1A40 was in trouble last night, sparks spotted underneath 57602 when passing Exmouth Junction. Following inspection it was allowed to travel at 40 mph max to Westbury where 57605 attached to it having run down light from Reading. Delayed 155 minutes

Would that have been a dragging brake?

I suspect so. Quite possibly to do with the brake test that would of occurred when loco ran round at Exeter.
Was this spotted by a member of staff in Exmouth Junction Box when the train passed then?
I suppose it possibly wouldn't have happened if the loco hadn't run around at Exeter, but if a member of railway staff hadn't spotted it would it have set off a hot box activation somewhere anyway?

Has the configuration of berths changed recently ? I noticed Coach D now has berths 3 and 4 available, previously berths 1 to 11 in all coaches are set up as solo cabins then 13 to 24 for sharing, hopefully Paul will be along to enlighten us ! Anyone heard a date for extra coach to be added for all nights ?

Configuration changed in D only as 1/2 replaced by easy access toilet and easy access 3/4 cabin. Is mentioned somewhere previously way back - getting a long thread !!
Extra coach should be may timetable change.
White buffet 10229 now stood as spare.
Final coach of refurbishment ( 10225 buffet) should arrive in time for open day.
Ex Swansea shunter 08645 in trainload grey (denamed) arrived last night to supplement our 08410
Open day exhibits are being announced almost daily via the book of face.

I am unsure what is happening with 410 both for open day and long term. Its certainly operational. I only found out yesterday that there are rumours of it being disposed of elsewhere on internet but been told it's not going anywhere yet. Will have to get confirmation. Hope not.
