Just seen 350370, unable to get a pic but it now has branding for Cadbury world in the same place as 377s branding.

it is a bit off-topic but I'm not sure, it presumably depends what control standard is normally used - the drivers for those LCD displays may have an input controller that can read the spec of the text used by scrolling dot matrix displays and its default mode turns it into yellow text on a blue background as seen. Or it could be proprietary, and terrible!

PerryBarrSignage 270219.jpg Perry Barr station has gained new signage today. Will upload a picture later. Not the best Pic. Taken from 350105 which has a mix of threadbare seats and some newly replaced blue ones

To say that the 350/1 I was on this morning had threadbare seats shows just how much they need a refurb.

Pity the 323 refurb didn’t include replacing the dingy yellow interior lighting. A real let down. Detracts from what is otherwise a decent unit refurb. Still time to reconsider that issue with subsequent unit refurbs.

Looks very similar to an existing class 350. That's certainly not a bad thing though.
Looks like First Class holders won't even be paying for an antimacassar any more :o

Colour scheme looks nice. But they really do need to either make 1st 2+1 or get rid of it. It's an utter sham.

I hope the lighting isn't that bright white.

If you want to replace it with nasty overbright dentist's chair lighting, you can keep it. I want home-like comfort, not an interrogation room. Who has daylight white lighting in their lounge?

Nothing wrong with 2+2 throughout especially where First Class is concerned after all Class 365s had it from day 1 so what makes the Class 350s so special?

After Polesworth being first, guess where's second....Cheddington

Just seen the new Cheddington signs. They look alright but only because the existing signs they vinylled over happened to be long and thin, allowing a decent sized font to be used.

This was a nice surprise though; not quite Rail Alphabet but near enough!!

Not sure about that; commuters book 1st class on these trains to guarantee a seat, not because they expect Pullman-esque luxury. Getting rid of 25pc of the seats to make it more comfortable would, I suspect, only annoy people...! If LNR were an out-and-out Intercity operator I’d agree with you, of course.

Like many UK train refurbs at the moment it resembles something you'd see in a Regus serviced office.

None the worse for that IMO. I’m pleased they’ve gone for a darker patterned carpet to hide the dirt better - the original light grey carpets looked terrible very quickly!

Missing a trick not having plug sockets fitted at every pair of seats, or at least with the tables.

The sockets on the /3s are mounted under the tables so you wouldn’t see them from that angle. I wonder if they’re doing the same on the refurb? If not that would indeed be a pity.

I'm a bit confused by the entire replacement of some of the seats and the repadding/retrimming of others...?

Same seats; just the difference between 1st and standard. The 1st class ones recline. In fairness, as mentioned upthread, the 1st class ones look less different from standard than they do currently because there are no longer any antimacassars.

oh, so the 350s have some first class saloons and not just the little cabins...? but I'm still confused, because going by what you're saying about the difference between first class and standard class, the standard class seats look like entirely new seats, but the first class seats look like the originals retrimmed (the shells / backs of the first class seats look like the original Desiro UK shells / backs, whereas those of the standard class seats look completely brand new / different - see what I mean...?)

They started replacing the signage at Hamstead yesterday. No idea why the cross city stations haven't been painted yet. I did hear that WMT were speaking to AVFC at some point to discuss Aston and Witton being done out in club colours. Not sure if it ever came to anything. Theyd probably want to use the old ticket office as a trophy room

They’ve done the smaller signs at Hemel Hempstead now, and they feature the interesting addition of the words “Direct Trains to Birmingham International”.

I’m not sure how good an idea that is really; maybe put it on a separate sign, and perhaps not on the London-bound platform! Also from May that will be true of every station on the south WCML...

On 323217 as I write this. New seats are smart, but the lights are still depressing. Also the WiFi isn't working.

I think what you are thinking are 1st class seats (the recognisably “Desiro” type) are actually the standard ones and vice versa. Here’s a picture of the first class section of a /3 showing the same seats. (Couldn’t find a pic of a /1 from that angle but they are exactly the same).

oh, I didn't realise that all the seats are actually original, just retrimmed! Being a standard class passenger I didn't realise the seat backs in first class were *that* different. Why have the standard class head resting areas been "winged"...?
