As in, North of Leeds to York and onto the ECML northbound
They're allowed on diesel, but pretty certainly they can't maintain the timetable then. Not to mention the 801s only having a single GU…

They're not restricted outright; indeed, 800107 was on the 5Q20 to 5Q25 test circuit yesterday - which is based at Heaton. Not sure on the specifics of operation north of York though!

On ‘dirty’ diesel.

801103-108 are built.

The Agility East fleet build is

1st 800/1 (all complete)
2nd 801/1 (nearly complete)
3rd 800/2
4th/last 801/2

I think there was an Azuma on the test track outside Newton Aycliffe yesterday (it was dark and raining...)

It appeared to have a livery and red seat covers. Could that be 800101?

Not a problem - as Ko-ko (Lord High Executioner of Titipu) once said "they'll none of them be missed!"
I happen to have a very good vantage point of ECML goings-on from my workplace...

We only suffer to ride on a buffer, in parliamentary trains..."

Only a little off-topic!
Quite relevant in these graffiti-ridden times.

Only slightly, given the Azumas' Japanese pedigree. ;)
They changed "par-lia-mentary" to "Transport for London" at a recent ENO production shown in cinemas (it's on YouTube - and worth a watch).

Back on topic, 800106 looks fresh indeed! I might well go out for that at PBO this evening.

Saw 800104 in P8 at Leeds yesterday lunchtime. Couldn't stop to hang around but some staff training was going on on board and it looked like they were practising loading catering too.

Roughly how many test runs are occurring each day/week now? The upturn in activity in this thread (that isn't moaning about seats) suggests there's quite a few sets out each day?

800101 is at Aycliffe but is now plain grey sat outside.

If its azuma livery it will be one if the 5 car class 801s.

Why are bi-mode 800/1 9 coach and 800/2 5 coach yet it's flipped for the 801 (9 coach is /2 and 5 coach is /1). I'll get my coat just need to go and find a suitable wall to bang one's head on...

Probably to avoid confusion which might arise between which class it is. For example, if an Azuma is 9 coaches long and numbered 103, it's an 800 (in this case, 800103). It's the same for the planned 801s for GWR; they would have been 9-car 801/0s, which would have been the opposite of the 5-car bi-modal 800/0s.

To avoid any confusion, they should have avoided any duplication of the last 2 digits.
eg 9 car units 800101 - 800113 & 812021 - 812050
5 car units 800261 - 800270 & 801180 - 801192.

Just saw 800109 at Doncaster (for York) today on 5Q11. Full livery and interior as reported prior, working electronic coach/destination signs also.

Wasn't a fan of the livery before but it's quite growing on me.
And while I'm not a fan of yellow fronts, it's not to bad on this unit.
Although it does remind me of McDonalds!

Do LNER manage their 800 operations out of Swindon control center with GWR or is there a different control center for the East?

LNER will be managing their side of operations out of York where LNER control is based in the ROC (along with some office space nearby).

I'm not quite sure where Agility Trains East main operational HQ is but I had assumed it would be Doncaster where the new build depot is though it could be elsewhere, perhaps London as that is where the registered office of the company is located (I'm open to correction).
