Because moquet is more expensive to weave and is heavier in material. They were trying to do it on the cheap and it has backfired on them and will now probably cost them more by changing what has already been done.
It was reported on here a few pages back that the flat cloth was the same price as moquette.

I thought the same. No doubt that's a different part of the process and the unit will have to go off somewhere else to get a nicer floor
That's the same floor that all the refurbished 150s I've been on have got. It would be fine if Northern bothered to clean them properly every now and then.

Any news on redecorate and parked up 333 00I.
I hear that redecorating of 333 013 did not reach the cabs which weren't even cleaned. Not a good way to treat your people perhaps.

I got to travel home on 333013 this evening. Nice and bright and smart looking inside, and the moquette is definitely superior to the flat cloth. It wears the new livery well.

However, the seats are still just as uncomfortable due to the curved shape and 3+2 layout. That's when I eventually got a seat.

I await the 331s...

Evening all, does anyone have a complete list of all the transferred turbostars and sprinters that Northern have received from ScotRail please?

I'm on the refurbed 333013 this morning down Airedale. Rather a nice unit now, even if 3+2 Is less than ideal. Given the delay to the introduction of the longer 331s, these will do nicely in the meantime. Shame that they aren't putting charging points on the stock though!

But yes, bright, light and clean. Very nice, and the moquette looks good too. Now we just have to hope that Northern have a decent cleaning contractor (I'm not holding my breath) or these will start to look grubby very quickly!

EDIT: compared very favourably with the overcrowded and rather grubby 185 onward journey I can tell you.

Which service was it on this morning if you don't mind me asking?

Not sure if this has been noted already or not - the "see it, say it, sorted" announcements on 156486 (and possibly other units too) are now done by a male voiceover, but the same female voiceover still announced the service details.

None of the refurbishment's include the cabs anymore, that was quietly dropped quite a few months ago now.
Cab work hasn't even been signed off yet. It is phase 3 of the refurb programme and is still at the consultation stage with the ASLEF cab improvement group.

Hmm. At this rate phase 3, whatever that includes, wont meet the end of the franchise.
