Managed to catch one in the wild this evening! 1725 Inverness to Glasgow Queen Street
Lucky you - I was booked to work this one day last week & a 170 turned up

The loco haulers around fife where possible have two guards.
How many coaches do the Fife loco workings have?
Currently six if I remember correctly.
Not hugely different to a 4/5 coach HST (Mk2 coaches are shorter) then - probably a pretty good case could be made for 'doubling up' Conductors
I wondered if it might have been you driving the one I filmed!Lucky you - I was booked to work this one day last week & a 170 turned up
Absolutely right, whoever this other member of staff is they need to be dispatch trained. No point saving time at the expense of safety!
Presumably, though, it is quite likely that they will be, since ScotRail station staff already dispatch LNER HSTs on the Aberdeen and Inverness lines.
This path posted on the scot-rail gen list with speculation that it might be a pair of 43s off to collect the next set of refurbished coaches.

Because Wabtec need a pair of power cars to test trailers before they are released.Sure that run has been posted here already but as no.3 set has been pictured at wabtec with refurbished power cars not sure of the need to send more.

Amd wgere will a cadre of guards fully trained on slam door HSTs emerge from? I guess Scotrail don't have fully trained up guards ready to double up sitting around twiddling their thumbs?
And as I said set no.3 has been pictured with a pair of refurbished power cars, now set no.4 perhaps.Because Wabtec need a pair of power cars to test trailers before they are released.

Yes, but if that set comes north then another pair of power cars is required for at least testing further trailers, even if they’re not coming north just yet.

Yes which is why in the full sentence I said "now set no.4 perhaps".
Can confirm right now if a manned station has that member of staff free to dispatch the train they have to dispatch it. My dad raised this question shortly after they came in
A fine sight, thanks for posting. Even with all other things considered, as an HST enthusiast it warms the heart a just little that some of them will see out their days running in the beauty of the HML. A fitting retirement.
0833 Edinburgh-Inverness is a HST this morning
You've just made my day, as that means the 1255 Inverness - Edinburgh (return working) should be an HST too
Also, the 0944 Inverness - Edinburgh was an HST too. Are we going to have a 'good' day for HSTs? Ultimately though, every day should be like that....
Passed this at Stanley jn. Have also noted there's a set sitting in the sidings at Perth. And there currently are some coaches at least in the shed at Inverness (there for training purposes?)0833 Edinburgh-Inverness is a HST this morning
I got a bit of an answer - one PC was running last night and sounded like the other was started today so it may be leaving soon (or could already have left). Is the set that failed last week (43176/135 I think) very poorly? It made it to Dundee but doesn't seem to have moved since.
Apparently one of the power cars had a battery charging issueI got a bit of an answer - one PC was running last night and sounded like the other was started today so it may be leaving soon (or could already have left).
