I hear from the WY forum that there will be a total recast of all trains via Halifax and more late departures from Leeds to Halifax

The Blackpools will be semi fast York to Leeds with local stations served by a new Selby stopping service

There will also be a new fast service from Newcastle to Middlesbrough

The Newcastle to Middlesbrough fast service won’t be happening, it was a mistake in the press release, December 2019 for that one

An hourly service from Halifax to Hull.

Hull to Scarborough is also going hourly.

At a guess replacing the current Leeds - Selby stoppers and calling at a mixed bag of stations from Selby to Hull to allow the York - Hull services to call only at Howden & Brough?

Would like to see the same promise fulfilled for Low Moor.
If that happens then the recast of Halifax services will be the enabler. But I'm not getting my hopes up!

Yes indeed (although in the case of Normy, I'm not even sure anyones promised it yet, sadly).

Lots of Northern services have appeared on RealTimeTrains tonight. When I checked a few hours ago Carlisle only had two Northern services a day, but it looks like everything is now on the system.

Looks like they're up on RTT. Not sure I like the look of the Chester to Leeds. Skips a service in the morning and evening peak around Manchester, takes just as long as the TFW trains to get there and it can be quicker to change at Newton-le-Willows if you were going all the way to Leeds.

However absolutely perfect for a Helsby to Victoria commute both ways. Delighted.

Ah. Didn't spot that that the missing one came from Ellesmere Port. That could work actually going from Helsby.

I'm hoping not everything has been uploaded yet.

Looking at Newcastle to Carlisle, there's a two hour gap without trains between 1723 and 1923, which surely can't be right.
At the moment there are trains at 1723, 1810, 1823 and 1923.

Yes, the Ellesmere Port service falls just right for a commute. Strange it doesn't call at Frodsham and Runcorn East though. Great that a peak service is provided whilst the rest of the day is semi express. Winners all round.

They have reinstated the 2338 Leeds to Halifax train that was removed late last year but have not loaded the Halifax to Hull service yet

The 1752 Morpeth to Carlisle service leaves Newcastle at 1821, but it's not showing as a passenger call on RTT.

Are there any other changes that affect Hull other than the new Halifax service and Scarborough going hourly?

As feared, the Mid-Cheshire line has been shafted again. No additional weekday services, not even between Altrincham and Chester as floated last year. And still only 1tp2h on Sundays.

Hazel Grove has not got the 4th hourly train to Piccadilly, just a Blackpool service instead of the current Piccadilly shuttle.

So, of the promised Northern Hub dividend of four additional Northern services per hour on the Stockport line, only one has materialised, the second hourly train to Buxton introduced in May 2018.

And the Atherton line has still not got the promised 4th hourly train.

Looking at that neck of the woods, the majority of Manchester - Kirkby services have been split at Wigan with only four through services to Manchester in the morning, and two return journeys in the evening, remaining. Importantly, this means there will be no return, off-peak journey available for people looking for a day in Manchester from stations on the Kirkby line, without changing at Wigan. I'm not against this, even though it does rather spoil my nice little commute from Pemberton, but it's certainly going to upset some people.

Newcastle to Hexham is now 3tph (2tph to Carlisle). Weirdly, the class 1 Carlisle services are the slows, with the class 2s being the expresses! The 18:10 now terminates at Prudhoe, so there's been a peak service deduction beyond there. The general pattern through the day is Middlesbrough (and beyond) to Hexham, Newcastle to Carlisle and Morpeth to Carlisle. Same in the opposite direction.

Is a Halifax - Hull service going to be introduced? I've seen it mentioned here a couple of times but not seen Northern talk of such a service (they promised a Leeds - Bridlington service).

Changes at Leeds:
  • New semi-fast service to Harrogate departing xx15 (no corresponding xx45 service shown)
  • xx36 service to Manchester Victoria now departs xx38 and extended to Chester
  • Services to / from Preston extended (restored) to Blackpool North
  • Apart from a couple of minor retimings, no other changes to regular departures at Leeds
  • Service from Huddersfield to Wakefield Kirkgate extended to Castleford

The Chester-Victoria times seem the same as those which briefly appeared on RTT 12 months ago before being pulled in the May meltdown.
Eastbound they split the TfW times nicely, but westbound there is only a short gap between the TfW and Northern services west of Ordsall Lane.
The odd train calls at Eccles.
Schedules, considering the few stops, seem rather slow.
The east end bays at Chester are going to be quite busy fitting in the turnround for these trains and the new Halton Curve service as well as the existing Manchester via Northwich service.
Looks like the Liverpool service is going to be parked on top of the Northwich service in P6, which has a long layover.

The odd 2-hour gap in the TfW Liverpool service in the evening is the consequence of extending one service to Wrexham, so there's no unit for the missing hour.
Unlike the Leeds service, there is a reasonably full service on Sundays.

The Chester- Leeds service is not loaded for Sundays. Maybe that is for December?

Last train on a Sunday to Halifax will now be 2257 from Man Vic and 2319 from Leeds which is much later than before. Regrettably the new late train at 2338 does not run on Saturdays !

're the Calder valley where since the resignalling trains seem to be waiting time.
Nice to see more trains stopping at Sowerby Bridge but disappointing that no more stop at the £16million Low Moor station as promised.
Also nice to see the Blackpool service restored as well as the new stopper to Chester.

Hoping there are still some services to be uploaded - gaps in the M-F hourly Leeds to Sheffield stoppers (both via Dearne and via Barnsley) which surely can't be right.

Don't see the point in extending the Huddersfield - Wakefield service to Castleford given it runs so close to the existing Leeds - Sheffield over the common section.

At Sheffield it looks like the new Sheffield - Gainsborough service works in with the Sheffield - Hull stopper. The latter currently works in with the Sheffield - Adwick which now appears to go standalone with a long layover in Sheffield each hour.

That's good that the direct Castleford - Huddersfield service is included.
