It is reported that another is going to join 204 also, possibly for GWR to replace unavailable 313 units that were to be supplied for those 387 units going to Heathrow Express. Not sure how true this is

313s for GWR? They seem a tad unsuitable.

When I saw the rumours on WNXX, in my head, I had them going to London Overground for Romford - Upminster services releasing a 315.

I read it (the 313 to GWR that is....) as purely to be used for static training purposes (as current use of a Mk2 was mentioned).....the quote I saw was something like '313's in Devon will be novel', presumably as the layout is like similar to a 150??

My first thought was it’s a bit early for April 1st, although there’s clearly something afoot.

I can’t see LO or TfL Rail needing to release a 315 when they’ve just scrapped nearly a dozen of them, probably in many cases in better condition than the 314s, and with the right branding, interior scheme, et cetera.

Would be lovely to see a 314 in service around London, but I suspect training or even spares recovery seems more likely. Here’s hoping to be proved wrong!

Why would GWR want such old units? are you sure you don't mean GN for the Moorgate service pending the full introduction of 717's?

Just a thought... maybe the message being referred to contains a typo and it meant to read 319s ( as 769s )?

The loco has arrived at Shields to take 201 to its final destination.

This will leave 11 units left in Scotland, all of which I believe are still in service.

I wonder which one will be preserved. I always thought 201 would have been the candidate. 203 would be a good one to preserve as it has the carriage of a 507 too.

Angel Trains publicised the fact that at least one unit would be available for preservation if a serious bid were to be made but whether or not one will actually be preserved is another matter and if I were a betting man I’d be putting all my money on ‘not’.

Would be fantastic to see one preserved
But would only be a static exhibit or used as hauled stock if it were preserved by a
Heritage Line Trust.
Just a thought but it should remain mainline certified for further use on appropriate lines maybe used on local charters or heritage running days in much the same way LUL operate their heritage units.
Obviously politics will probably dictate as per usual,as every operator has to pay to run their trains on the main line.
This could never be justified though if there were never enough support.
Another reason why steam charters are so expensive too.

I doubt any will be preserved. Ideally, the Riverside museum should take one, or at least a driving motor coach. No Heritage Railway in Scotland, apart from possibly Bo'ness has the room to store a full 3 car unit and they've indicated they don't want it. The fact that the 303 sits unloved there makes it plain an EMU isn't of any interest to them.

Surely one unit deserves a place on the high altar-turning circle of the NRM in York? Right next to Evening Star. I’d go for the stalwart of election traction that is 202, there could be a naming ceremony and bunting. ‘The Empress Of Mount Florida’ springs to mind.

Now that 380s are being cascaded away from Glasgow - Edinburgh via Cumbernauld services, is there any indication that another batch of 314 withdrawals is about to occur?

Here’s a clue: which issue of the magazine is it in?
It’s absolute nonsense peddled by “Informed Sources” on Twitter but they didn’t intend it as April 1, just took it hook line and sinker. Largely from other TOC staff too. 710 introduction is finally in near sight.

Looks like 208 might have been stopped now.

Seen a few 314s at Shields this evening but all were sitting pan-up. Didn’t get an ID on any of them, but those seen in service earlier were 202, 207, 210, 214 and 215.
