What's happened to 1A79 this morning as it's lost 61 min?

Talking of 43088 it was paired with 43161 today on the 14:45 Paddington to Swansea, a rare treat. At Shrub Hill I was told by a GWR chap (poss a driver who had just brought it from Paddington) that they are hoping Sunday 31st March will be a HST for the service as far as Foregate Street and they are retaining 6 sets to cover events like Glastonbury etc
Obviously this might change.
Here’s a pic of the rear power car 43088 on IP69 on 10th March heading to Paddington.

According to Twitter, the last services will be on 18th May. Time I don’t knowAny word from GWR or @Clarence Yard on when the last train will be, as it has changed and Rail isn't always the best source!
Isn’t that what posts on the previous page of this thread were about, including the time?According to Twitter, the last services will be on 18th May. Time I don’t know

Just a couple:-
1554 PLY to PNZ and 1914 PNZ to PLY are IET
This cannot be the "true" ones because this week there is late night Engineering Work between Bristol/Weston/Taunton affecting services. All the ECS are being operated as STP it would appear

I guess this is why these services are still IET then. The set instead works 5Z74 1604 Plymouth - St Phillips Marsh (also an STP move) which I guess is due to the engineering works as you mentioned. Edited in the diagrams post.Just a couple:-

I/m wondering if this thread is more in connection with the wind down of HST worked services and should be here:-

43160 is leading the way on 1L48, the 09:29 from Swansea to Paddington. Didn't have a chance to get to the other end of the platform before getting on it at Bristol Parkway to see what the rear car is though.
Bloody hell that's the second time this year they have been paired together. I last had them in January.43159 at the rear.

Thanks, I was only going as far as Swindon today so I didn't have to wait long to see it. Fingers crossed that diagram is back to a HST one for the time being.43159 at the rear.
Hello,
OK - just checking:
Are the 1W39 1331 Paddington - Worcester Foregate Street & 1P69 Worcester Foregate Street - Paddington still booked as HSTs? Or do we not know yet?
Thanks in advance. If these services are HSTs, I'm sure that they'll be rammed full of people trying to get a last ride on a Cotswold Line HST!

There’s a whole thread dedicated to the shortened and modified HSTs being kept, basically to overcome a shortage of suitable DMUs for routes in the west:Also, my Rail Guide 2018 (the most up-to-date one which I have) says that some HSTs are staying with GWR. Is this still true? I've heard about the sliding-door coaching stock being used with Class 43s. Does this mean that GWR, even though they are getting new IETs, are keeping HSTs for a while?

Looks like is an HST again tomorrow - whether this will be the last one on the Cotswold line is anyone's guess though! (I thought it was a couple of weeks back and it turned out it wasn't)
Hiya,OK. Thanks very much. I remember people saying on here when the previous one ran that another one tomorrow would be a HST.
I think that it's better to assume that this one is the last one rather than assume that there'll be another one; that's the attitude I think everyone had before the IETs were introduced - "there'll always be a̶n̶ ̶E̶n̶g̶l̶a̶n̶d̶ another one!" and it's best to assume that this one is the last one.

He also said they had been told some sets (he actually said 6) were being held in reserve for big events like Glastonbury.
It still is wibble. No HST sets are being kept for Glastonbury, or any other special event.
The 6 sets refers to the up to 6 GTi slam door sets that will cover for late deliveries of the sliding door GTi sets. Even with the delays at Wabtec, all of these should be gone by mid autumn.
OK. Thanks for the information.Hiya,
It was me who was on the last diagrammed HST on the Cotswold Line to Hereford on 15th Feb and it was the train manager and trolley lady who said this is the last normal run.
It was meant to be March 8th but the diversions in Devon meant it ended sooner suprising everybody.
However a couple of weeks ago there was a Sunday run, only as far as Foregate Street not Hereford and the driver who brought her from Padd told me there was going to be another run on the 31st (as in tomorrow).
He also said they had been told some sets (he actually said 6) were being held in reserve for big events like Glastonbury.
Obviously all this can change but in fairness so far what the GWR girls told me on the 15th and what this driver said have both been accurate so far.
I'm hoping to get there for part of the trip tomorrow so will try asking the driver again what they have been told about anything in the future.
