Still booked as part of an HST diagram.

Currently showing as having set OC55 allocated with 43185 & 43162.

Usual disclaimers apply!
OK. Thanks very much. Am I right in thinking that on the 10th (or whenever the last one ran) it ran with set OC54? I don't really understand how HST formations work but I'd like to know.
43185 is the one in the Intercity Swallow (ICS) livery, isn't it? That'll make for an interesting afternoon!

Thanks once again,

-Peter

And it looks awful with a bodged paint application to match badly positioned vinyls. The vinyls also look appalling as they are peeling away at the edges. If they use that on the farewell tour it will be embarrassing.

I doubt they will bother of give a toss to re-vinyl it.

I’m on it now and your gen is perfect!
Delighted to say 43185 is on the London end as we make our way to Worcester.
Pretty quiet but I can see a few 125 group badges/Old Oak stickers on laptops etc!

This is not true as per post from @Clarence Yard upthread:

It’s true that the GWR driver told me that and from the more informed info you have it sounds like he was right about 6 sets but incorrect about what they would be used for.
Therefore said driver has semi-wibbled!
He was also right about the HST to Worcester today that I’m sat on now so maybe he only quarter wibbled!
Thanks for the further info about the 6 sets being the temporary GT’i’s though.

Seen as you've been onboard, could you say if any GWR-liveried coaches are part of the train (or even if 43162 is in GWR green)? Just wondering.

EDIT: Hopefully it will be nice and quiet on the return journey.

43162 will never be in GWR green at its an off lease power car like all the ones that have gone off lease into storage so far.

Yes 43162 is blue with the Exeter Panel Signal Box nameplate.
I think it was all blue coaches.

Let's wait and see, shall we, as I'm hearing something else, but given the fluid state of weekend diagrams due to engineering work in various places for the next few weeks I don't think anyone can guarantee anything either way just yet.

Because drivers know everything about the railway and have an ability to see into the future as to what the planners and control are going to do....

Railway Herald says that GWR have confirmed a HST 'Farewell Special', to include Oxford to Hereford via the Cotswold line, on 1st June. Tickets to go on sale at the Long Rock open day.

I also heard, while photographing today's HST, that 1W02 London Paddington to Hereford on 04/05/19 will be a HST, though I'm taking that with a pinch of salt as it seems unlikely to me that an individual diagram would be planned that far ahead?

On the contrary, it is likely that all of the remaining HST workings on the GWR are already planned (subject to rare contingency out and back workings which can be substituted on an as required basis). HST workings need to start from and end at one of Laira, Long Rock and St Philips Marsh and be worked by staff who still sign the traction.

Just using RTT, it doesn't look very likely that 1W02 London Paddington to Hereford on 04/05/19 will be a HST because to be one, you would need there to be workings from one of the three places noted above which fit with its times at Paddington.

However, with engineering work meaning that West of England trains are heavily altered, with longer journey times for the route via Melksham meaning shorter time at Paddington, if the journey time to and from Hereford fits best with workings from Plymouth I guess it is possible with workings swapped.

By 4 May, according to diagrams on the 125 group website, there are only three weekday workings for 2+8 HSTs, two finishing at Laira on a Friday night and one at Penzance so all of the HST workings on 4 May must be out and back from those locations.

So, if you are right, the working on 4 May would need to be:

5A75 03+15 Laira T.& R.S.M.D. to Plymouth 0337
1A75 0540 Plymouth to London Paddington 0936
1W02 1022 London Paddington to Hereford 1340
5W02 13+45 Hereford to Hereford 1401
5P65 14+58 Hereford to Hereford 1511
1P65 1513 Hereford to London Paddington 1829
1C96 2000 London Paddington to Plymouth 2345 (or maybe on 1C95 at 1848)
5C96 23+57 Plymouth to Laira T.& R.S.M.D. 0135

with the other two doing Plymouth-Paddington-Penzance and Penzance-Paddington-Plymouth. An eight hour round trip to Hereford is possibly the easiest place to send the High Speed Train given the changes to timetables.

On a normal Saturday, it is 1A76 0657 PLY-PAD 1010, 1C79 1103 PAD-PLY 1431, 1A89 1501 PLY-PAD 1821, 1C95 1903 PAD-PLY 2238 but 1Z76 arrives at Paddington at 1042, 1C79 leaves at 1048, 1Z89 arrives at Paddington at 1843, 1C95 leaves at 1848.

I guess we will wait and see.

1st June for the HST farewell jobbie? I'll have to check my calendar but I'm interested. Particularly seeing as it's coming my way...

People aren't talking about the farewell HST railtour here. They are talking about the last HSTs working a timetabled public passenger service on the Cotswold Line and other routes.

May 4 is a date I have heard mentioned as well, due to the engineering alterations that weekend, but as I said above there are no guarantees. I expect someone will come up with an update nearer the time.

Can anyone clarify which non-west of England diagrams are short term HST's this week please?

No booked LTP diagrams, but if you look at ECS movements (with a HST timing load) off St Phillips Marsh, that will give you an idea of STP diagrams.

I think the 0603 Bristol - Weston SM and 0648 Weston SM - London Paddington are an HST tomorrow. I’m not sure what that diagram does next though.

10:00 Pad - Bristol TM, 12:30 Bristol TM - Pad, 14:45 Pad - Swansea, 18:29 Swansea - Pad, then something back to Bristol (I believe 22:15). Guessing you're on the first workings? ;)

...someone has to be!

You lucky thing. I have to be in Reading for just before 9, got the choice of 04:51 ex-Plymouth (not from Plymouth thankfully!) or something to Bath to pick up your working

I won’t be going east of Bristol with it, just the Weston bit.

Does anyone know what will happen to the Paddington to Pembroke Dock summer Saturday train this year?
