So the first 769's for TFW have arrived at Cardiff Canton for training correct me if I'm wrong these are primarily going to be used on the Rhymney line any other lines in particular?
Note this is from the original thread
Porterbrook Cl.769 'Flex' trains from 319s, initially for Northern

The answer is probably buried in this thread somewhere:-

www.railforums.co.uk/threads/porterbrook-cl-769-flex-trains-from-319s-initially-for-northern.138660/page-110

However, the believe intention is to work on the Rhymney Line. Perhaps there should be a new thread (this one) dedicated to TFW 769s split from the one just quoted above which is more general and has an emphasis on Northern.

The 769 at Canton which has been split in 2 was, according to a Group, spotted as reformed back into a complete 4 Car unit.

At one point it was split into three.

Was reformed at end of last week though.

There is a suggestion that the 769 has been out on a run and bashed platform edges. Can anybody confirm this, please, i.e. quoting details such as where and when.

Given that the body is near identical to a Class 150 (which is basically go-anywhere in Wales) this seems surprising.

Apparently (again rumour/speculation) the yaw dampers could cause problems

If it's been out and about in South Wales someone on the forum would in all likelihood have seen it and reported back or have spotted it on RTT and again reported back.

Maybe people posting on this thread could quote their source or imply where they heard it from.

As a rule I tend to ignore anything written on BookFace or from a "guy in the pub" especially if he's had a few.

There are large groups in South Wales and if it had happened somebody would have soon posted the news

769002 hasn't left Canton since it arrived as they want fitters trained before its sent out 9n driver training. Its network rail who have decided there could be a issue with the 769s on the rhymney line. This is why TFW were looking at loco haulage for rhymney.

Talk on the street suggests ebbw vale could get the 769s first which if diagrams don't change could possibly mean a 769 could reach maesteg and Swansea.

That partly defeats the object of them. They are required where 4 carriages are required as the emphasis is on capacity. I'm sure it will be resolved and they will be cleared to work on the Rhymney line as it could be Network Rail being over cautious without proper gauging being carried out.

Sling them on the Treherbert line. Having been sardined in a decrepit 2-car 14x for the last six months of commute, it was a luxury having a 2-car 150 this morning!

There are all sorts of reasons emerging in Groups re 769 problems such as a pipe sticking out and then somebody else posts "I've heard it is because of xxxx". Just wait and see.

TFW in a Tweet to a punter tonight saying that 769s should be in service on Rhymney route by late May, fitted with all mod cons, WIFI, sockets, PRM Toilets, CIS and staying until 2022. So that still seems to be the official line

Where next after 2022, I wonder? Northern seems likely.

There are reports of a very minor gauging issue. Very minor; all units built so far will have to be modified. Change is being done on production line for unmodified units. Fix should only take two or three man-hours. Supposedly it was uncovered when 769002 was dragged to Canton, but as with many others this is all just regurgitated rumour at this point.

Obliged for this information. It might put a stop to all the escalating rumours flying around and which look on the dark side

Quite. They will be used on the Rhymney line only, according to the vehicle change notice circulated recently.

That isn't information. It is repetition of a probably unfounded rumour by somebody who constantly claims the project isn't in trouble despite all the evidence to the contrary. It adds nothing.

If it's something informing me then it is information whether it has just confirmed something to scotch rumours or otherwise. Pedantic

And your evidence to back up such an assertion is what exactly?

In the latest issue of RAIL, in their article about TfW hiring the 37s + Mk2s for Rhymney, TfW Rail are quoted as saying that they expect all 9 of the 769s that they've ordered to be delivered by June (this year). No committed dates for seeing a 769 in service though.

We'll see.

Why aren't TfW using them on Manchester Airport -N Wales trains. they could run on leccy from manc to Warrington. Seems a far better use. They could even get Allerton to service them.

edit. are changed to aren't.

Don't quite follow. Who said they were going to be used on that route ?
