What happens the following day with the HST that goes from Queen St to Perth in the evening on Diagram 1? There doesn’t seem to be a Diagram that starts in Perth.

I wondered that. There’s a Perth to Queen St early next morning (the next train out of the arrival platform at Perth), however at Queen St that forms a Dunblane service. Confused!

Not too sure myself. RTT suggests that it ends up in platform 3 at Perth but then nothing after that. I would assume ECS somewhere else.

Looks like it forms 5A53 0647 Perth - Glasgow Queen Street 0812 the next morning, then follows Diagram 5 in the original post.

Think there needs to be diagram sticky for new timetable if theres not already one

Definitely, lots of things seem to have changed and the previous diagrams no longer work. There should be more HST diagrams anyway.

What's happened to all the units which were released by these HST diagrams, where have they gone?

170s were supposed to replace all 158s on the Borders, the 158s and other 170s would be Fife and the new Arbroath semi-fast and Montrose-Inverurie?

DISCLAIMER: ACCURACY MAY BE QUESTIONABLE

Not perfect I know but seeing as no proper diagrams have been posted yet I considered it was better than nothing. The following is a list of all services booked to be HST according to RTT.

In absence of anything else hopefully it can at least provide a reference for people to say whether or not something ran as an HST

So the 8.34 Edinburgh to Inverness and 12.48 return were a 170 today. Scotrails twitter team says there are no ficed diagrams and trains are allocated on a daily basis.
Yesterday 12.39 Glasgow to Aberdeen was a HST as was 15.39 Glasgow to Aberdeen and return.
Lots of spare HSTs sitting around , 1 at Perth, i saw 2 at Cowlairs., 2 visible passing Haymarket plus a solo pair of powercars back to back and some trailers by themselves. Also a 4-car set sitting in the depot at Inverness.

Well as I said take them with a pinch of salt.

People have been asking about them, and while they are not official and quite possibly not accurate surely it was more helpful to post them and let people see them than to not do so?

I did try and put a disclaimer in at the beginning on the point of accuracy.

Mate, that's a great piece of work. I wasn't being critical. I spent several hours trawling through RTT trying to put together a list of these myself. The timing load suggests that is what they sent to Network Rail and intended / intend to use on the diagram during the course of this next timetable period. But it seems that there are various issues in the background, and as a result of that - several sets are not in use that they planned to use.

With the list to hand, it would be great if any forum members can update this thread with sightings so that we can identify which services are most likely to be the booked HST's and if there are those that tend to be substituted with 170's.

Timing Loads dont indicate any actual diagrammed stock.
we understand that. Hence why Class 802's and HST's were running to HST timing loads on the routes out of Paddington.
Due to a shortage of rolling stock, Anglia timing loads for an electric loco hauling 350 tons can be run by a pair of class 321's. But if the 90's are avail;able, that is what gets used!
On the East Coast, HST and Electric loco timing loads generally find an HST on a timing load that says HST, and a 91 or a 90 hauling mk4 stock where it is specified Electric loco hauling xxx tons. But a HST can substitute and vice versa if there is a shortage of rolling stock. But you won't find an HST on an edinburgh turn with an electric loco as the booked timing load if a Class 91 is available.
So most of the time the timing loads are an indication of what stock the TOC intends to use. They are the ones that submit their timetable request to Network rail.
You will find anything that has been planned in to be run by a DMU, comes up as 'sprinter' within the timing loads. And probably more guaranteed that the booked DMU will turn up as opposed to an HST!

No, I realised that I don't think I worded my reply too well in that respect sorry. I appreciate that there was a very high chance they weren't going to be quite right, it just that under the previous timetable the HST listed services matched up with the diagrams people put up last time even if they weren't always HST-operated in reality.

Today's refurbished HST allocations. But does not show the 'classic sets

https://twitter.com/ScotRail/status/1131426530175967232

I saw they'd been posting these up, and I'm sure it was said in this thread or the ScotRail HST intro one that HST services could be worked interchangeably by Classic or Refurb.

Yes, on Tuesday I was on the 12:39 Glasgow to Aberdeen, classic set. Inter7City Power cars finding themselves on classic sets too.
Scot rail are only advertising the reformed sets for now, but from what i saw Tuesday and weds, most are on the Aberdeen Glasgow route.

ScotRail have said there are also 5 Classic sets out today in addition to the Inter7City ones.

I'm guessing the Scotrail HST diagrams have not been updated for the new timetable yet (not on the Frequently requested Diagrams list as far as I can see) - is this the case?

Also - am I right to think the refurbished HST sets can end up on any of these diagrams and it's not really possible to know which services they are running on ahead of the day itself?

Thanks

Any HST service can be operated by either an Inter7City refurbished set or a Classic set.

And I've been told conflicting things. Someone said they had dedicated diagrams someone else said it was day-to-day.

Perhaps a wee tweet to ScotRail on the day? They generally seem quite helpful with such queries.

Just like any other type of stock there are diagrams (in the HA9xx series) which are split into ‘classic’ and ‘refurbished’. However, again like any other type of stock, operational upsets on the day may force changes to the booked workings or step ups if needed.

Perhaps you would be kind enough to clarify something then?

Are there, as with the December timetable, services which are booked HST and services booked 170 on the Inter7City routes, but with the HST services again being subject to possible 170-substitutions?

Or is it simply any of the Inter7City services can now be operated by an HST if one is available?
