Jammy women, builders of Bahamas base?

I think this is quite hard so will prompt clues if not solved Sunday

Clues in order:

Who is renowned for making jam? Bahamas is not the geographical location. And think of a synonym for base.

Definitely National Rail. And for Bahamas, think one of 191 with a defining feature.

You were partly on the right lines with your previous answer. Bahamas I chose because it is well-known but not too obvious in the clue. I could equally have chosen Prestatyn or Southport as less exotic names! Any nearer?

I thought that I was on to it there, but Bahamas is a Jubilee and Prestatyn or Southport are Patriots, but they have one thing in common which was being built by the NBL, cant think who was renowned for making jam, (Womens Institute?). Base = Pier?
Cant stick it together though

Having a stab at Wilmslow. WI is Women's Institute famous for jam, LMS is London Midland and Scottish Railway who built the Bahamas steam locomotive, and "low" can mean base. If this is right would never have got it without d9009alycidon and the Women's Institute, if it's wrong will have got it wrong all by my myself.

Truffy's got it:

WI = Jammy women of the Women's Institute
LMS = builder of steam locos including Bahamas (yes I know it was at the NBL works but commissioned by the LMS)
LOW = synonym for base.

No response for nearly a week, from the last successful answerer. Might "open floor" be decided on?

Something of a hint -- the "answer station" is, genuinely, by the seaside, en route to a seaside terminus.

My thanks.

Near capital, imaginable delivery of ungentlemanly fellow / draught animal pairs, allotted by weight

Clue: Think of the four compass directions. "Mostly southerly" refers to these, the actual station's quite easterly.
