Has anyone who had an interview for the GBRF west midlands trainee train driver position heard anything back yet?

18th march I was told I had interview, been really quick process compared to other toc I have applied with before, failed dmi with east midlands trains twice so glad to finally pass (third time lucky I guess).
I was told in dmi that there was at least 3 jobs available for a may/june course and potentially a course later in the year so it may be they are concentrating on the imminent upcoming course and will contact others for later in the year courses, either way least they haven't said unsuccessful to you so fingers crossed mate

Thats pretty much what they said to me and like you say they havent out right sacked me off, so im still holding out some hope.
Im due to get married smack bang in the middle of the classroom based training so dont think that did me any favours!! I just want to know either way, ha!!
Out of curiosity, what is it you do for a living now?

congrats on the wedding, they do expect no interruptions to the training program so may have been a negative issue but may explain your wait on reply if they are considering you for the next course.
I work for west midlands trains, worked my way up from cleaner to depot shunter and now I'm a station supervisor/dispatcher. I never fancied the guards role so to tick the safety box I went down the shunter route witch I think went down well being as shunting is a big part of the freight driver role.
what's your background/name lol

Medical was relaxed as I've had a few over the years.
Only thing I was unsure about was the e.c.g as I've never done that before and a heads up is they shave your chest so the 8 pads will stick to your skin, I look silly now as I've a hairy chest lol.
One thing I did was went to my gp for a pre medical check up on my blood pressure just to be sure of no surprise in my actual medical.
Other than that long as your sight and hearing is good and no serious existing medical issues then you will be fine.
Make sure to declare any medication your on or taken recently as this is very important if it affects your capabilities as a driver.
Takes 3 days for urine samples to clear so I guess I'll hear soon as that's passed

Thanks for that pal

Good shout about going to the doctors for a pre medical check. I’m awaiting a date at the moment.

Had my dmi interview almost three weeks ago, so guessing I’ll hear about a medical within the next 4-6 weeks hopefully

Good luck to ya hope all goes well.
Could be on same course then if your successful and from Midlands, I'm looking forward to getting going and they have a new training facility with new simulators to train on, should be amazing to be among the first to use it all

I had my interview in March and medical 2 weeks ago, all process was surprisingly swift and relaxed. Medical went well, only thing I had to declare is blood pressure which is controlled by tablets, it is well within limits tho, so hopefully not something to disqualify me from driving.

No, not yet, only thing I noticed is change of date on my online account, so I assume they already received medical paperwork and lab tests.

I'd love to know what date they have in mind for the start of training I was told may/June in interview and possibly a second course later in the year, is that your understanding?

It might take some time to organise everything, we just need to be patient. I guess company is looking to send everyone for same course, which is logical from financial and logistic perspective :)

I spoke to them last week and was advised possibly 2 months until we can expect to start. It was mentioned tbh may/June so they must be trying to arrange a course and confirming required numbers..

I’m applying for wmt so I can’t comment too much but just stay patient.

If it’s meant to be, it will be.

Sure you’ll hear something soon. Got my fingers crossed for you
