Any 717s out today?
Any 717s out today?
None on bank holidays.
No. As was just explained in post #2100Are any planned to operate tomorrow?
GN have said there won’t be any at weekends until after signalling work is done - likely to be end of May.
By yesterday afternoon, I think only 003 and 007 were left standing. I went to Moorgate to catch the 1450 to WGC, which was cancelled, but boarded 003 an hour or so later at Finsbury Park, then saw 007 at Alexandra Palace.Well I managed to go on four earlier this morning, 003/005/007/008 so there were definitely four working before 11.
That's interesting, I've seen 507s and 508s leaving with the guard's door open (and the guard having a conversation with platform staff as it does). Maybe something that can be modified?
On 313s, there is a switch - crew doors are switched out of the interlock circuit in 'Guard' mode. In DOO mode they are switched in. This is so the the cab doors are securely closed with the sole member of staff safely on board.
is the pis unit the same as a 700
On a 700 internal screens may display 'not in service' and not clear even when a pis code has been entered unless you press a string of buttons... but with no repeater display in the cab the driver may not know

Saw one parked up at Kings Cross this morning on platform 11. Had Moorgate on the display. Doors were locked so looked like a diverted train?

Yes and it has been done before. Particularly last summer it was used quite a lot for a variety of things such as telling passengers to keep cool and hydrated during the heatwave, and also promoting the Rail Plan 2020 in the days running up to doomsday.Although apparently there is the option of it being controlled/updated remotely. Although that is possible on 387s too. But I don't see it used. At least on the TL/GN side.
I do wonder if the option to load adverts into it exists ?
I always thought those were pre-loaded when the trains were in the depot.Yes and it has been done before. I have seen today at various times at Finsbury Park/Drayton Park and Moorgate 717002/003/005/007/009 in passenger service

That is true, there supposed to be able to do that remotely on the 700’s/717’sI always thought those were pre-loaded when the trains were in the depot.
I'd like to see Control target a specific train and send a PIS update when they decide to alter the stopping pattern. Rather than expecting the driver to faff around with a cumbersome PIS interface.
Same on 19.55 from MoorgateI used 717009 in the evening and its PIS system seemed to be working okay.
I just checked the NRE journey planner for the weekend of the late-May bank holiday, and trains between WGC and Moorgate are shown as running normally on 25/26/27th May, at least they are, during daytime hours.
So how are the signals in the Drayton Park to Moorgate section going to be repositioned? Is the work being done overnight?
Perhaps it’ll be done on time and on budget, by the team that brought you Crossrail...Really doubt it will happen over that weekend. Attempting to fiddle with that old time expired infrastructure is asking for trouble. and to do it in an overnight period is a recipe for disaster.
If I were a betting man, I'd put my money on August Bank Holiday or next Christmas !!
