Is it still possible to get a Saveaway on paper (not a Walrus card) from a Merseyrail station ticket office? Because this booklet suggests that the Merseyrail stations only sell the ticket on a Walrus card although it is not clear on this. I would rather have a paper ticket. I am thinking of buying from Bidston station. Does anybody else have experience of the Merseyrail stations in this area?

Merseyrail ticket office and M Go (is that the name?) shops will only sell them on Walrus at an additional charge of £1. They will refuse to put it on another, equally compatible, ITSO card.

You'll need to buy it from a non-Merseyrail ticket office to get it on paper.

Saveaway is a Merseytravel product which includes travel on buses and ferries. Merseyrail offer a Daysaver for travel on their trains after 9.30am. (anytime at weekends) I think that might be available as a paper ticket, although, as Railcard discounts are not available with Daysaver, I have never bought one.

Does anyone know if Chester will give me a Saveaway on paper? Any recent experiences? (Because Chester is not a Merseyrail-owned station).
