I can see what you mean but I don't think that is a very nice statement... it's not quite that black and white.

Being a pseudo Brummie from Saltley,we got about a bit,and I found that the soft Hampshire burr at Eastleigh was easy on the ear.The loudest were the Thornaby lads at Rotherham messroom.I could listen to the South Wales accent for hours.Reading and its Berkshire accent is rather pleasant too.I sometimes fall into the accent of wherever I am,and do get strange looks.Apparently,the act of mimicking an accent is know as social badging,i.e. You want to be accepted as a local.An elder brother met a cockney gel and moved dahn there,and now has a East Anglia twang,living in Ipswich.Strange,innit?

There train's may look ugly but got to agree with you, I think they have the same intelligence as anyone else on the planet and just pronounce things diffrent and spell things diffrent than us.

But there goverment gives proper sentances to people who commit crimes etc...

I'd like to get my Hampshire accent back, I've lost it & got a vile Surrey one instead.

However if I had to make a choice of any other accent, other than my Hampshire one, then it'd be a tough call between a NE accent, either Geordie/Mackem or Smoggy or Bristolian/Somerset one.

I drift between Yorkshire, Mackem, Cov and Brummie due to the combination of brought up in/studied in/lived in/worked in locations.

At one time received pronunciation would be called BBC English.The dreaded Estuary English is now the norm south of Rugby,I would say.London has its own separate accents.East End speak: Miw Waw for Millwall.I mean...what?

Ive always gotten along with Americans very well! Was on holiday in Arizona not long ago and they was all friendly, same in L.A. and New York!

1. Very deep Yorkshire or Norwegen (Viking): I don't think this one requires an explanation, as ye all know very well which my favourite period in history is!

Anyway, to answer the question, I think I would like a German accent, possibly with a bit of Yorkshire thrown in. But to be honest, I'm happy with what I actually have... I'd take my fake Estuary accent [fake because it's a "posh" version of it] over a real one, never mind Cockney etc, any day.
