I have my DMI in a week's time... hopefully I'll be able to report shortly afterwards that I'll be joining the HEX pool. Time will tell!
Congratulations (again) to everyone who has their start date!

The first assessment are the paper tests:
- Group Bourdon (GBD)
- The Test of Everyday Attention (TEA-Occ)
- Trainability for Rules & procedures Parts 1 and 2 (TRP)
- Written Communications Test (WCT)

So, sat my stage 2 assessment on Wednesday, felt like I fluffed the PC part, which I would say was more difficult than I was expecting but passed nonetheless. Had email confirmation this morning of a successful SJE and MMI too, which again I felt like I could've done better but only because I had one or two questions I wasn't expecting. Fair play to everyone who puts themselves through this, it's quite a stressful process! Feel free to ask any questions for anyone preparing for it.
Now to prepare for the DMI. If anyone has any hints/tips I'd be most grateful. I'm guessing it's been quite a quick turn around so far, 4 months application to Stage 1, 4 weeks to Stage 2, so possibly an interview next month?

Congrats. Have a browse on the forum theres loads of examples of dmi questions on here.
Research a bit about the company, the routes they run and the specific route/ depot you are applying for.
Practice using the star response to any questions asking you to give an example of a time...
Remember Safety is priority at all times in your answers. Always follow rules and regs.

Good luck.

Written communication test is usually a storyboard of pictures and you have to write what's happening. Checks your legibility and how you communicate what's happening.

It's fairly straight forward. Don't rush and take your time making sure what you write is easily understandable. I don't think they're looking for you to finish it all. (I didn't)

Thanks allot

And do u have any info on the trainability exercise part 1 and 2??

And is all of this stage 1 assessment?

That’s correct. I know SWR do this too, but am aware not all do. It’s not the same as enhanced vs national standard with this one though, it’s just that some don’t bother with it as far as I’m aware?

Before the Written Communication assessment, we were told very clearly by our assessment organiser that it didn't constitute as part of the actual assessments and therefore wasn't a pass/fail component. It would only be used by GWR in the future should our applications be successful. Hope this helps!

Hi all,
I have my first assessment next week, any tips would be greatly received. I have started to scan the forum so I think I have the gist of it, nervous though. What is the recommended dress for this? I don't want to look out of place, however, I understand it is only 9:00 - 13:00 so I will be heading back to work (rules out a suit).
TIA

You will definitely find all of the information you need on this forum and within the practice material sent by email. It’s worth downloading the Group Bourdon Tool on this forum to practice.
You have plenty of time to practice the assessments and ask questions on the day so I’m sure you will be fine.
As for dress code I would go with at lest a shirt/tie combo if you are able to. If not then as smart as you are able to.

Good luck!

Agreed about the shirt/tie combo. If you can’t do a suit, you should still go on the smart side.
