Later this summer I am planning to travel up to Inverness from Nottingham on a Monday morning using an Off Peak Return priced at £112.85 with my Senior Railcard. After spending a week in Inverness, the following Monday afternoon I am planning on travelling down as far as Glasgow, staying 3 nights in Glasgow, then continuing my journey back to Nottingham on the Thursday. Will this ticket allow this? It has a restriction 8X.

Yes, https://www.nationalrail.co.uk/8X shows that break of journey is explicitly permitted. You may break your journey as many times as you wish on this ticket.

Thanks for that. That’s great. Not going until beginning of September but wanted to book my hotels in advance whilst prices are not too high.

I’m going to be making use of an 8 Days in 15 Spirit of Scotland Travel pass whilst up there. Staying 7 nights in the Central Inverness Premier Inn, allowing 6 days travel up there. Hoping to do Far North Line, Kyle of Lochalsh, Inverness to Aberdeen, Citylink bus to Ullapool and maybe cruise over to Stornaway and back. Then down to Glasgow for 3 nights in Queen Street Travelodge using my final 2 days travel for Fort William and Mallaig, Oban and Isle of Mull.
