Is 1c90 1703 Paddington to Penzance the booked HST? Hoping to join it at Taunton.

That's IW1 diagram, which this morning was an IET from Paddington to Plymouth and back. So unless they've repaired the power car (defective Speedo), it will an IET.

Debatable - there is one more diagram running to and from London. Had it been the only one in total I'd have said a definite yes, but we'll see :D

It would be nice if they did. Considering that there is so little time left for them with GWR on high-speed workings.

GWR Press Release:

The day is almost here! Saturday 18 May will see the last scheduled High Speed Trains in service now that our entire fleet of Intercity Express Trains are in operation.

We want to make sure this day is recorded and want you to be a part of that as well. Post your selfies with and videos of the last HSTs on Twitter @GWRhelp or Instagram @GWRUK and use #LastOfTheHSTs

The best films and photos may be used in a film we are making about the last day of the HST and we will make contact directly with you if we would like to use your clips. We are looking for clips at stations and in the countryside.

Remember, do not trespass on the railway when taking shots or place any part of your body/equipment out of the window on a moving train, any videos or photographs we think are taken from a dangerous place will not be used. If filming at stations, make sure you speak with a member of the platform team so they know what you are doing and always follow their instructions.

Below are the timings for the four HSTs that will be in service although these may change due to operational reasons.

1A76

06.57 PLY > PAD 10.10.

Bread-and-butter traction for anybody born after the '60s so agreed!

Definitely, I would've been about 6 or 7 when I saw my first HST at York.

Will the 18:22 on the 18th May have an unreserved first class coach as when I booked my ticket it gave me coach E which is first class on a class 800 and when I phoned up GWR they could not change it, so I just wanted to know if there will be some unreserved seats as if I try to book a new ticket with a correct reservation it says no reservations available but in standard they are.
Any advice on unreserved seats on this service would be very helpful, Thanks.

Having been on many a Cotswold HST, I would say that, if this service runs as the HSTs usually do, yes; there will be an unreserved HST coach. I think. :)

No unreserved coach, as such, but there should be plenty of seats.
If you've been given coach E, I highly suspect they won't put out seat reservations (wrong seat map)

what they have been doing on the last HSTs I've been on over last few weeks, every time, is put the reserved tags from "coach E" say on seats on the HST 1st class cars, eg L&M - so if you got to 1st class you will almost certainly find your seat tag labelled with the letter number you booked, on a seat - but tag for E25 for example, will not be on HST seat L25 for example, but it will be your seat as no one else will have that reservation. But given this approach it can take while to find it and if lots of 1st reservations have been issued it will take longer to find yours, so if you find an unreserved 1st class seat that you like, I'd sit in it!

All good, but worth noting, Paddington station seems to be a no tripod zone, whether that can be policed Saturday remains to be seen.

old fashioned camera with no steady shot, tripod always helpful !! that said a suitcase will suffice

Easy, I have something similar.
ISO 400, and open up the Aperture, with the shutter speed around 1/focal length.

Anyone know what's up with 1A96? The set arrived PLY right time, but left 48 down. Looks like 1C98 is going to be a set swap (80x presumably) at PAD

For reference, this refers to yesterday and not today 15/05.

Yesterday was speedo issues on the power car.
