Does the new timetable take into account the 153s? Is it possible that the 153s continue working until the 172/0s are all in service?

Certainly not on the Nuneaton - Leamington unless Cov cover the Leamington diagrams. Given the major changes across the region I doubt this option would even be discussed!

But then, this is the railway!

I'm informed that 172003 is in service COV-NUN today with a 153 on COV-LMS.
The Saturday schedule (up until now) shows that the two arrive from Tyseley together and split in Coventry platform 4 at around 0545. A 172/0 and a 153 coupled together at Coventry could have made an interesting (and historic) picture. Was anyone around to witness this?

There's a slot booked for the last one (172001) to arrive from Ilford on Monday. Hopefully it will make it this time.

Sure is 003. Looks very smart in its new colours and seat trim.

Anyone running a book on how long it takes for it to fail?

Great, it's gonnea feel strange seeing a Class 172 in Nuneaton platform 1 on the Coventry/Leamington service after years of a single 153 here, even before the service was split at Nuneaton 153's were common on the through Nottingham/Lincoln/Grimsby service (Saturday's usually have a pair on the current Nun-Cov service)

I drove 003 the other day on New St - Herefords, it behaved all day & seems a good unit!

Having just passed Worcester depot I saw the pairs of 153s already lined up for next week’s work. One of the pairs appears to have the No.2 cabs outwards.

There's a pair lined up in Tyseley too!

Does anyone know what specific services theses are going to be on? Sound like a thing to avoid in the peak...

172003 was still running the Nuneaton - Coventry service this evening. With Wasps being at home at the Ricoh its capacity would have been very useful. There was certainly a good load of fans getting off at Nuneaton at 1900 tonight after the game.

It'll stay on the same diagram all day.

Started off at Leamington at about 10:00am according to the unit diagram

Yep. The 153 worked the Leamingtons yesterday and 003 would have gone in the yard for today's Nuneaton working.

The new Nuneaton - Leamington service successfully started today and still has 172003 (with headboards front and back today!) working (its been on the service since Saturday), which has been joined by 172002 on the other working. I took a ride to Bermuda Park on the 0715 to Leamington, which had a good complement of passengers, a definite improvement on the 153 which would have been full and standing. New carpet and upholstery created a much better ambience than the 153s.

May I add yesterday 172340 was doing the shuttle between cov-lms. On its first Sunday service.
