Third Signal Moved last night?

Yes, Essex Road Down Starter signal was moved but looking through the diagrams for next week no new trains are to be introduced just drivers diagram are altered, no weekend services just yet either.

Both wont be far off.

Probably makes sense not to try and achieve too much given past issues at timetable changeover (as some on here would remind us, GTR don't have a track record of running before walking) - let the diagrams and rosters bed in for a week or so then they can go for more 717 units. Also gives a week to check that no second person in the cab is all ok with the existing few diagrams that are 717-operated before introducing any more.

On 313058 right now (2010 MOG-SVG), by far the smoothest and best kept 313 I've ever been on. Genuinely nearly smooth as a 717/700 is. Presumably one of the ones that will be kept in service until the very end.

313058 is great. Especially since it was the trial unit for the new lighting - it's much nicer inside.

Yeah, it's the only 313 I've ever been on with covers on the lights, all the other ones have exposed lights. Windows also cleaner than other 313s. Can you tell me more about the new lighting system?

The lighting is far too dim though, and presumably why it never made it on to any other units.

I think a number of 313s now have retrofitted LED lighting that's far brighter, just with no diffuser installed.

Not a good day for 717014. Doors stopped working in 5th and 6th carriages at Old Street, then the 4th carriage's also stopped working at Essex Road. Now running about 5 late on the 1325 MOG-HFN.

And now all the doors won't open at Alexandra Palace... Driver says "they've failed and so has the backup override system". Door release now taking about a minute at each stop, fault now means train terminating at GDH.

I wonder how much is a fault and how much drivers needing to get familiar with them? By that I mean knowing how to solve the issues quickly and without calling control who will likely decide to terminate the service.

Ah, you beat me to reporting this - I was also on this train MOG-FPK. It was odd how all the doors opened again at Drayton Park and FPK, though...

That should make weekend working doable quite soon hopefully.
One would hope that some time in June they start introducing some more717s
fingers crossed for weekend working July/August
with their driver shortage it probably better that weekend working is delayed-to quite late in the introduction

Is 313058 out today?
It was out, I had it in a pair leading 313025 on the 14:28 Stevenage to Moorgate. One thing I noted was that it appeared to be using the motors to do most of the braking. I've not been aware of this before. Is it a feature that is rarely used? There was quite a noticable burning smell at Watton and Hertford North.

Yep, meaning that as of tomorrow a second man is no longer needed in the cab, and that the driver will use the cameras down the side of the train for self dispatch at all stations except for KGX, SVG and MOG.

Don't the Hertford/Gordon Hill starters still need to be dispatched though? What do the dispatchers at those locations do now?

Got that info from the forum on WNXX. No need for dispatchers for 717s at GDH or HFN, cameras are sufficient. There will still bs dispatchers for 313s though.

Once the 313s go tho, it be bloody boring as a dispatcher then!
