They still have 170s on that route Snow hill
Previously there was only 2 170 diagrams and not at this time of day! (2x3 coaches in the morning peak and 1x3 coaches+ a 153 in the afternoon/evening peak). Wonder if it was maybe just subbing in for the 172/0s...

Anyone know how many diagrams are for 170s now or are we just getting a random unit generator?

The new Nuneaton - Leamington service successfully started today and still has 172003 (with headboards front and back today!) working (its been on the service since Saturday), which has been joined by 172002 on the other working. I took a ride to Bermuda Park on the 0715 to Leamington, which had a good complement of passengers, a definite improvement on the 153 which would have been full and standing. New carpet and upholstery created a much better ambience than the 153s.

What does that head board actually say?

Here is a view of the back of the other headboard with extra information: I wonder who made them, they did a nice smart job.

There is now two diagrams for class 170s to operate on the Snow Hill lines for most of the day. One of the diagrams consist of a 2 x 2 car 170 and the other being 2 x 153 with a 170.

These are booked workings and are not standing in.

That was a suprise! The 1617 from Solihull (a 172 for years) has just turned up with dogbox's! Stinking, shrieking, roasting hot and packed in the 153 I'm on. No PIS or automated noises of course.

Does it have a 170 on it or fully dogbox?

Was a rake of 3. Centre was the 153. No 170 for sure. Brake squeal unbelievable. Commute is now 2x390s, class 68 and now them!

Enjoy. Most are glad to see the back of them judging by today's reaction.

A shame because with a decent internal refurb they wouldn't be too bad.

Back on topic, today has proved a few right. The services during the day seemed to get delayed on the Kenilworth section, with a handful being 10-15 minutes late arriving. Easily over an hour's worth of delays accumulated on the first day, which is a stark contrast to the old shuttle which was rarely late, even in the peaks. Quite a few passengers called that one month's ago.

Time will tell of course, but the timing between Bermuda and Bedworth on the Up of just 2 minutes looked ambitious, even with the better acceleration there's little chance of doing that up the hill. The opposite way 3 has been allowed and that's usually a downhill coast.....but not on a 172!

I’m currently sat on the 2*153+170/5 combo — they don’t appear to have opened the corridor between the units, which could end up causing crowding issues if people board and assume they can walk through to the second carriage.
