Anyone know how many units have been constructed so far? Is ABRail up to date with the number of completed 195s?

Rumour is September before these are in passenger service

I have heard from Monday 1st July it is hoped to have a 195 in passenger service on at least 1 Barrow to Manchester Airport diagram. Likely 06.47 from Barrow. Whether or not this will happen or if this is the 1st 195 in passenger service remains to be seen.

Given the amount of units running around supporting various training activities, September seems quite late - @scrapy 's date of 1st July seems more realistic (or maybe I'm just being hopelessly optimistic - it's been a long wait!).

Internal were told June/July (see my previous posts) as stated it's now supposedly September. Lots of issues that I won't and cannot divulge

Frankly I would accept December at this stage! There is going to be a huge problem if they are not in service by then.

No I'm afraid and it's getting embarrassing as it's nearly a year since the first one arrived in the UK (end of June 2018)
Chances are that the FLIRTS for Abellio Greater Anglia and the new TPE stock will enter service before these units and the 331s enter service

I passed Newton Heath Depot yesterday evening on the tram to and from the City parade.
Heading to Manchester, I observed a 195 in the shed with lights on, one has to assume that said unit was 195112 as it was parked adjacent to the fence partly obscured by a 150 in the sidings on my return journey.

Both 195 112 and 116 at Newton Heath this evening.

Have the internal bar coupler issues been sorted out on these yet...?

They have on some units and will be completed soon on the remainder. The units that haven't been modified are banned from certain routes. Certainly no unmodified units will be in passenger service.

195s noted in the Liverpool area today were
Liverpool South Parkway at 0725 - 195111. Came off Allerton Depot and on to down slow line. Assume training to Crewe.
Edge Hill Depot at 0735 - 195119 (with 331001/07/108).
Allerton Depot at 1610 - 195105/10/15 + one other (with 331001)

The Rail Minister was quoted on TV again today saying Pacers will be gone by December. So when will enough 195s be in service?

Modern Railways has reported that the 185s will not be going to Ireland. This would give TPE much more fleet flexibility at the end of the year. If they loaned 4 x 185s to Northern again that would sort out the Cumbrian Northern Connect services. Northern now have 20 class 153s. Derogations for them for a limited period would help too. Some 195s need to enter service and probably some 769s too but Northern can make do without many of them. There is also the emergency option of seeing what DRS etc can rustle up (again). A couple of loco hauled sets would help. It does seem hopeful that some 195s will be in service by the end of the year and some of the genuinely new Northern Connect services could be delayed until May 2020. The ones that are basically just an upgrade of existing services would have to be the priority. Liverpool-Manchester Airport via Warrington springs to mind for early 195 services.

To be fair on December 25th, there will be no Pacers running anywhere in the country, guaranteed.

They’ve just shown the report on Look North. He basically said pacers would go by the end of the year, but when asked if any have gone yet, he said no, they won’t go until new trains replace them.

Perhaps I am thinking too logically, but this could mean the Minister has been given reassurances from Northern about 195 deployment?

Some of the Pacers ought to have been cascaded out by the 319s though, and haven't been, so I wonder exactly what the plan is. Both in vehicle count but also total metre-length, the 195s do not fully replace the Pacers, and the 331s basically just replace the existing electric stock, so what's the plan?

As far as I can see, Pacers will very much still be operating after 2020 - unless of course Northern wish to repeat the level of cancellations from May 2018, albeit for different reasons.
