Really sorry. Not to burst your bubble, it doesn't work like that. East Midlands Railway will be ran totally different to Scott Rail, Mersey Rail, West Midlands and Greater Anglia. If you want to apply for East Midlands you will have to submit an application form.
Depends on abellio's procedures, when i was with EMT i remember having access too SWT's internal job lists, so yes there will need to be an application but it could still give them more opportunity, however it could be a hindrance if they don't want them to move after a short peiod of time

I work for GA. We don't get any other internal vacancies for the other TOCs. West Midlands was a few but not driver position.
As you say may change in the future, who knows with Abellio!
Best of luck to any one with this so.

• Part 1 – Driver testing Stage 1: 11th, 12th and 13th June 2019

• Part 2 – Assessment Days: Early July 2019

• Part 3 – Competency based interviews: Late July and early August 2019

• Part 4 – Driver testing Stage 2: w/c 19th August 2019

Am I right in thinking Part 1 & 4 will be The OPC days and if so what is Part 2 then?

However, the last part of the application form asks for your name, DOB, sexual orientation, gender, ethnicity and religious belief? Strange that the CV asks for this to be removed!
Equality Act 2010. They're all protected characteristics. Employers aren't allowed to discriminate on grounds of the above. Oh we like that applicant, but we won't take them on cos they're muslim/Jewish. ..

Omitting names is also good. Unconscious biases. They've done experiments. 2 exact same CVs. One named Mohammed. The other named David. I'll let you do the maths.

Part 2 would normally be team-based exercises and speed interviews based on EMT’s recent Depot Driver recruitment drives.

Cheers for the reply. I take it speed interviews are separate from DMI. Are the team exercises rail industry related or stuff like building bridges out of sheets of paper etc?

I work for WMT and we get access to all the Abellio vacancies, even bus driving jobs in London!

This is quite a quick process if the dates are correct? Only four months for all four stages. I recently noticed that emt depot drivers are still being processed after 8 months.

They need to get the SJT’s sent out sharpish if they are going to meet those above dates! Wonder when this is going to happen?

That’s the job vacancy closed then. If the dates mentioned are to be adhered too then the successful people will be informed fairly soon I’d imagine. Good luck everyone that applied.

I also received an email stating that I had been shortlisted for the role and they would be in touch soon with more information on the next selection process.... I have completed all testing to national standard previously with another toc but failed dmi. I mentioned this on my application as I was hoping I would only retry Dmi again so fingers crossed. Good luck everyone else.

I received the dreaded #Unfortunately# email at 03.09 am. I prefer there was a set of aptitude tests, SJT etc and weed applicants that way. I'm only moaning because I failed and to fail on this one without taking any test, makes me question the meritocracy of the whole process. What are they looking for, which is relevant to being a train driver, that 95% of applicants don't make the interview stage? The application sifting without any prior test, comes across as arbitrary and you're either lucky, or you are not.
I'm gutted.:'(:'(:'(

I've received the "we're still working on it" email too. I passed my OPC psychometrics + MMI last year to enhanced standard. However I'm slightly outside the depot commute band by about 10mins but willing to relocate. So I guess it's a case of seeing what happens.

Incidentally, by the time the drivers are recruited by Stagecoach EMT, it will become Abellio EMR. Bit strange 1 franchise effectively recruiting for another?

Respectfully, I don’t think luck comes into it. I appreciate your frustration. I have been there myself. Applications at any TOC are sifted according to however they wish and it is up to you to portray yourself in the best possible light right from the start. If TOCs simply took all those who ‘could’ do the job from the tests there would be too many, so they sift.

I understand this is really disappointing but there are few drivers who made it through the whole process on their first attempt. Try and learn from this, work out why your application failed and make changes to it so that is less likely to fail next time.

Best of luck to you!

Most staff don’t change. The recruitment process might change depending on new management wishes but 99.9% of staff are TUPEd over.

Had the same email as you at around 1am!

Anyone know if there just one assessment date for this or will there be a choice of which day/time you can attend if selected? Working commitments May get in the way for me unfortunately

Received an email saying I’ve been shortlisted for the post! Best of luck to everyone else who is still waiting.

Be more than happy to send my application over to anyone who wants to see it.

Does your email state that you have been shortlisted for the post? Or does it state that they are still working on the shortlist for the interview?

Just trying to understand if we have all received the same email or there are different variations.

This is what the email says -

‘I am pleased to inform you that you have been shortlisted for the above post. We will be in touch shortly with further information on the next selection process.’

Have you already passed any assessment days with any other TOC’s?
