Abergavenny has had most of the station lighting columns (not all) repainted from turquoise to black.

Thanks, I won't necessarily need to walk around the city to see it then. I was unlucky last time I was at Central!

158-841 appears to no longer have one odd dark blue vestibule bin since its relivery. Not sure if anyone else actually noticed that, but it's attention to detail like that that I like

Was that a lingering scrap of Alphaline livery, or was it a Regional Railways shade? (I rather liked the RR two-tone blue stripe along their luggage racks that survived until their mid-life ATW refurbishment.)

I'd say it was the darker shade of the RR two-tone, I'm not sure how the bin came to be installed post refurb (assuming it was). Gone now as of TfW livery anyway!

Saw 158824 hanging outside the paint shop in Crewe today so I’m guessing that is the next 158 to be repainted. Not sure who the most recent one was though

825 and 841 were the ones done in May. thanks for the info! 824 will be getting PRM mods at the same time as TfW livery as this has been the case for any of the ones done so far that didn't already have them

I was on 158841 today. It formed the 09:34 Pwllheli to Birmingham and miraculously the air con was working and really well too!

That's great to hear! I've never understood how the original 158 air con system can sometimes work, even though the type of gas on which it was designed to run was outlawed shortly after the introduction of the class in the early 90s. Unless TfW have started to have new air con systems fitted...?

Nah, they won't have fitted new air-con systems to a fleet that's on its way out in a few years (especially not without trumpeting about it to the world). They'll have cleaned and serviced the system, and replenished the coolant gas instead.

Interesting, so the system will run on the modern (CFC-free...?) aircon gas, even though it wasn't designed to...? If TfW have indeed told the depot staff to do what you've described, it just goes to show how their attitude differs from Arriva's.

CambrianCoast got lucky. Nothing has changed with the air con - it was designed to run off now banned CFC gases, and whilst it can run off non CFC gases, it's very unreliable, hence the same old issues that have been going on for years. It does sometimes work, but often not.

TfW did say however when they took on the franchise that they would replace the system, despite the 158s being due for withdrawal.

Thanks for clearing this up :) I assume that the first 158 to have the new interior with the TfW seat moquette and carpets, light woodgrain veneered tables and presumably the mosaic wallpaper replaced with something else and any other traces of ATW removed, will also have a new air con system.

pause at 0:46 for the mockup (third from left)

Why have we not yet seen the TfW livery on a 150, only 153/158/(175)...?

158824 was stopped for PRM from 6th to 25th May but was not repainted. Out in traffic today in ATW colours.
