Reading earlier posts, the 185 Ireland deal broke down, and I doubt EMR would want 185s either. 170s on the other hand, it's looking like EMR would want them, and Ireland apparently isn't actively seeking them.
Arn’t 185s better than 170s? Certainly longer than some

185s are heavy and have thirsty overpowered engines. They were designed for Trans-pennine Expresses, nothing else
Shouldnt be written off on that note for the future though? Ireland or uk. Its a good option capacity wise for either placement

Their is no way 27 170s will replace all the DMUs on EMR is their? Still gonna need some before considering what’s available to go?

the 170s would replace the 153s and 156s on EMR, so they wouldn't be available for Ireland, and again, they're not actively seeking them, and the 185 Ireland deal broke down. So whatever Ireland wants, it's not looking like 170s or 185s.

I would like to see you say something constructive but it only seems you can rip into other people's posts.
I happen to be in Ireland, and am interested in the proposal itself, and have zero interest in irrelevant nonsense about pacers regurgitated repeatedly here by you and others, rather than discussing the actual proposal.

How about the 150's that still have the original seats?
That they were looking to get second hand DMU stock to be converted to Irish Gauge.
I reckon they'll look to the continent next although they'll have to look at high floor stock.

Irish Rail are perhaps a bit unfortunate that we have a shortage of decent DMUs but a massive surplus of decent EMUs!

Or just ring up Porterbrook and get them to do a "769 job" on some soon to be homeless SWR 455/9s. The issues should have been resolved by the point the they become spare.
Retractioned 455s will have a better performance than 769s and be lighter given no 25kV requirement so no transformer to lug around.
