It was mentioned in another thread that an Anglia Plus Day Ranger went up from £19 to £24, a whopping 26% increase. Can anyone beat that?

As said in another thread I used one (2 with a 2 together) yesterday at the new price. Staff were apologetic and called it ridiculous.
I do think it’s still a good deal if you use it extensively.
I will also say that I used a fairly big pile of trains yesterday with it and every single one ran to time.

I agree it's still a good deal if you're planning to make a day of it, but £12.50 with my Gold Card was an absolute steal. On the plus side, it may encourage me to go further afield more regularly...

Did GA finally get round to allowing the Anglia Plus with a gold card discount? as that is good to know :)

Yes. I've used a few with GC discount since the GC area was extended.

There was an issue in the first part of 2015. I had to pay full price and claim a refund for the difference from Greater Anglia. I think it was cock up rather than conspiracy.

What about stealth fare rises, for example because some ticket has been withdrawn or more severe restrictions implemented?

Think I may have a 'winner', although not 100% sure when the price changed:

Ride Cornwall Ranger - £13 on NRE when I planned my trip, just bought one in Penzance, they're now £18. Ticket clerk did check I still wanted one despite the price rise... I make that a 38% increase. Still a bargain for the amount of travel I have planned for the day.

I'm sorry but the Cornwall Ranger one is ridiculous. It is a similar area to Devon (Day Ranger £13) and yet £5 more!?! I understand it is valid on buses but surely this does not account for almost a whole quater of the ticket. If thi sis the case, would it not be sensible to introduce a simpler, rail only version of the ticket, by which railcard and child discounts properly apply?

Hopefully this increase doesn't give Devon ideas! As I said, it was definitely £13 a few weeks ago when I decided on my itinerary as I showed the page to a colleague, who was very impressed with the value. Like the idea of a cheaper rail-only version.

It's the 'Ride Cornwall Ranger' which includes buses. The Cornwall Ranger is rail only. £12.50 per the NRE site.

Child £6.25. Railcard discounted £8.25.

That Cornwall Ranger is new(ish) if you want just rail travel, if you want one including bus it's an extra £5.50. The price rise might be down to the bus companies wanting a bigger slice of the pie?

Isn’t it fairly usual for Rovers and Rangers to stay at the same price for quite a few years, ie they don’t normally go up every year so sometimes a major reset occurs? A bit like railcard prices?

Wayback machine from April this year indicates that (on NRE at least) the Ride Cornwall Ranger was £13 for an adult and you could get a Railcard discount. Also no sign of the newer rail-only version then. Glad I wasn't imagining it.

The Ride Cornwall Day Ranger (including buses) was just £10 three years ago. Equivalent product today, £18. A whopping 80% increase in just three years.

I’m not surprised that the price has gone up to £18. A First Kernow Bus Day Ticket has always been very highly priced compared to similar tickets in other areas. It has for this summer now increased to £15 for a buy on the bus day ticket and so it would have been very difficult to continue to sell the Ride Cornwall Ticket for only £13.

Last September I used a Ride Cornwall Ticket on a number of days with a Senior Railcard discount and at the old price it was only £10.75. Buying this ticket at a rail station with a railcard discount was far cheaper than any day ticket I could have purchased on the bus and with rail travel and Plymouth Bus included too. I did read somewhere that First Kernow had threatened to pull out of the Ride Cornwall Scheme if the price wasn’t increase for this summer.
