Wouldn't say a plane allocation that far out is reliable. I think the Titan 737 is probably an upgrade..

Normally no, but this is a long term hire in by TUI
The other A320, G-POWK is currently based at Stansted, also working for TUI

I’m booked on 2 EasyJet flights, that must use the same aircraft for each flight:

Lamezia Terme - Milan-Linate
Milan-Linate - Manchester

I keep getting repeated emails telling me that they have changed the aircraft for my flight and I need to re-check in for my flight.

Can anyone explain why they keep changing the assigned aircraft so frequently?

I think Airbus are behind with their A320neo delivery schedule. EasyJet’s neos are tending to replace A319s when they arrive (they have 26 of 117 A320neos ordered so far), so it may be that your flight was supposed to be an A320 but is now an A319.

Looks like I'll be flying on G-POWM with Titan, instead of a TUI 737 to Verona in a few weeks time

I was looking at Gatwick flightradar the other day and it seems there are loads of sub-charters at the moment presumably also due to the 737MAX and 787 issues. No exaggeration here, Norwegian seem to have half their schedule to the US operated by various fill ins; an "Evelop!" A330, Privilege Style Airlines B777, Wamos Air A330, Hifly A330, probably more. Also Avion Expess A320s on their short routes. Quite a few Thomas Cook & TUI departures are replaced by Titan Airways.

I bet it'll be a strong Summer for those airlines specialising in chartering their planes to others!

Arrived at Birmingham Airport for a flight to Glasgow today, to find the smoking area post security has temporarily been closed to facilitate an extension to the Departure Lounge. (Just as well I'd had a couple before going in)

Good news there is to be a replacement within the new complex. Thought it might have been gone for good !!

Talking of BHX, I had a £5 Meal Deal at M&S for Breakfast. Although dearer than Smiths or Boots you can have a Hot Drink with it.
I had a Cappo (from a machine) and the BLT was better quality than other's I've had. Considering a Cappo is well north of £2 it's not a bad deal.

That's certainly not a bad deal that aye!

I'm working on a unique plan to quit my smoking habit, so hopefully I'll soon not need smoking areas at airports. Day 5 of the plan currently and it's been a day of testing my patience and willpower. Was going really well until a boss annoyed the hell out of me, but I've now finished for the day and am recovering from that. Considering where I was with the habit just a few days ago I'm making even better progress than even I expected, and I set a target of end of June 2019 to finish the mission. I'm also going for the unique situation where I'm losing weight while quitting, which is such an unusual event I've never heard of anyone doing it. Even 1lb of weight lost will be good enough to claim that title!

So soon I won't be one of those people right next to the doors at airports puffing away, or biting at the chomp to get off the plane and spark up! Oh I can't wait to finally finish with that!

Anyway, for sure getting back on topic, does anyone know if the WizzAir app (should it exist!) has a function to use mobile boarding passes, or will I need to go back to the stone age and find somewhere to print them?

Should be a permanent closure IMO, this is the 21st century, we should be discouraging smoking.
I don't think Gatwick or Heathrow has a smoking area inside the terminal, and for that I'm very glad

Airports are transport establishments, not public health establishments.

Why, what harm does it do you personally given that one assumes you do not go there yourself?

I concur with your post. Whether or not we like it, a significant amount of us smoke. It's just how it is, and there are less and less smokers every year. In the meantime, providing an area for people to partake of the habit is not a bad idea.

One day, in the very distant future, civilisation may have completely banished the habit forever but until then...

Gatwick and Heathrow, and I'm pretty sure Luton and Stansted too, have no post-security smoking areas. I should know, I've looked for them in the past! Prague has joined that list too from what I'm told, and I daresay Dublin will eventually close theirs too. It might well happen one day that no-one partakes, but I don't see that happening for many generations yet.

Very Liberal minded of you !!

Thankfully Cardiff, East Midlands, Manchester and Aberdeen still provide facilities for a puff airside.

Thanks for the swift reply, I'll download it nearer September then. Figured it should have such a function, given Ryanair manage it.

I fully anticipate sometime in the next few weeks announcing when I'm off to get my 747 experience in. Likely to be in January, but I have a ton of research to do first.

Finally looking at doing my first long haul flight. We are fancying a trip to British Columbia next year. Looks like from Leeds/Manchester BA and KLM are by far the cheapest any other airlines like to be cheaper? And generally which airline has best service.

Suspect if BA is one of the cheaper options you're not likely to get much cheaper than them. Not looked of course, but the likes of Air Canada while probably more convenient are not exactly cheap from what I hear.

BA service is usually not too bad, I like their 787s as well. Coffee is lousy on their flights, be warned. Food can vary dramatically (my food outward to Canada was OK but coming back I had a chicken tikka with rice and peas. That was really nice!) and I think absolutely nothing of their breakfast service. Not come across an airline who does anything acceptable for breakfast yet mind!

Qantas do a great breakfast! Whereas BA put a desiccated croissant in a plastic bag on a tray, unless you’re flying ~10+ hours in which case they do offer a quite reasonable full English.

I'm not sure why there is an obsession with a full English given that almost nobody has that at home. Perhaps they should consider offering those Kelloggs pre-packed-with-milk cereal bowls or similar.

Never flown Qantas so wouldn't know. My long-haul experience is with BA, Etihad (ugh...) and Norwegian. When I came back from Toronto in May 2018 I got some sort of prepacked cold roll with cream cheese in the middle. Hardly something I'd consider a breakfast! That being said the breakfast was worse on Etihad in March 2019, the only thing I managed to eat was the lukewarm and anemic sausage with the soggy almost cold hash browns. Was not worth having! Not to mention poor quality barely hot coffee...Cannot remember 3 and a bit years on what I had for breakfast on Norwegian. Can't have been worth having!

I never have a full English for breakfast, mine is usually cereal, dry toast, a sandwich (very rarely) or similar. I like your idea on the cereal there, especially for those of us who only do light breakfasts and watch our food intake in balance to the anticipated energy demands of ourselves.

Better yet, to me, would be scrapping the complimentary food, make it compulsory to choose from a few different options at booking (or at the least during check-in), charge a reasonable fee for it and that's what you would have. To me, that would save on waste and passengers get what they ordered. None of this 'we've run out of X but you can have Y instead'. If the passenger would rather take their own choice of food on board, then they could do that and not pay the extra for a meal they don't want.

I would still keep the drinks free, apart from alcoholic beverages, though. I'd definitely restrict sale of alcohol too, a bit like Jet2 do with no alcohol sold before 8am or whatever it is exactly. I'd also ban selling it after a certain time too, although I'm not sure I'd make it a dry airline in normal conditions. The idea being to provide a better range of options with the drinks. With the food thing, it would be more avoiding waste as much as possible and of course only loading what's been ordered. Saves space on the plane and a little bit of weight too, as well as taking pressure off the cabin crew.

My flight on an easyJet A321 NEO wasn't a huge amount different to a A321 CEO.
You just get a new plane with a slightly quieter engine

Yes but what are the interiors like? I’m not wing walking now...

Are the interiors improved on the CEO interiors? What’s different about NEO interiors?

Best place for a full English when returning to Blighty on an overnight flight is in the terminal after disembarking!

KLM are consistently average, but pleasant.

BA swing between either absolutely stellar service or complete rubbish.

The thing to swing might be the plane. If you get a KLM747 - go for it. The pitch and legroom is quite generous. Can't recommend their other aircraft. However, if BA are still sending the A380 to Vancouver, then jump on that on the upper deck. Lots of space.

Amsterdam's glory as a great airport is gone - lots of work being done inside and out (including digital ATC which delayed us by about 2 hours) leading to near constant delays. I've been in and out of Amsterdam quite a bit this year and never managed anything on time.

And the last thing you want after an all-night flight is a thick heavy greasy breakfast. You're right, cereal would be great, but probably messy. Yoghurt and fruit etc would be perfect.

They still do seem to have A380s on the Vancouver trip. Is there a way of checking which plane it is before you buy? Or at least what it is meant to be?
