Note that the origin of the journey won't be the actual station I'll use, but it's on the same line.

So, if I wanted to go from Handforth (not the actual station I'm getting on at) to Manchester Piccadilly, but I wanted to go on Stockport - Stalybridge parliamentary train, would that be possible to get off the train at Stockport, catch the once-a-week to Stalybridge. I'm travelling on a Saturday, by the way. Once I get to Stalybridge, I'd get a TPE service to Piccadilly.

If I had a ticket from Handforth to Piccadilly, would this route be allowed?

Sorry but no.

Guide Bridge - Stalybridge - Guide Bridge is not a permitted double back for this ticket.

If you wish to travel from Handforth to Stalybridge outwards via Denton and return via Manchester Piccadilly, simply by a return from Handforth to Stalybridge.

Even if I was travelling to Manchester Piccadilly, a return to Stalybridge is valid on the parliamentary train, you're telling me?

And I'm not really new, this account's new, I have been signed up for ages but I lost the password to my old one and forgot the email I used.

You'd use the outward portion to travel to Stalybridge on the parliamentary train (which follows the shortest route possible from Handforth to Stalybridge). You'd then use the return portion to travel back to Handforth via Manchester Piccadilly - which is the usual route when you don't happen to be there to catch the weekly Parly train!
