Crankus Minimalis ?

Shame the current 'stuff' in GWR green isn't as good!

Does this one count? ;)

*walks quickly away after poking the bear*
Probably! (I saw a sign at Bodmin General station in the gift shop a few weeks ago that was about "Trainspotter's Disease". Was tempted!)

(EDIT: Found one!

I like the GWR green at the moment, but the 800s are rubbish compared to a King!

No. LMS and GWR do not mix. :)

Fair. I wonder how many people would go to see Clun Castle if they painted it Brunswick Green and slapped some FS name and number plates on it? Just a thought. Is it the engine that's the popular thing, or is it the name? Personally, as it's not Western (see previous posts! :)) I'm not terribly interested in it, but I will happily go to a nearby a heritage line to see it.

Just to be a spoiler I guess but Clun Castle although a GWR design engine, was built at Swindon by BR in 1950 and is painted the same colour green that FS is currently painted. :)

Don't let facts get in the way of a good story! :)

Right circumstances" - those circumstances being "NEVER" :)

I totally thought I had actual proof to the contrary. Alas I was mistaken! My memory was slightly hazy on the detail. Hence the delay in reply!

I was recalling the Merchant Navy, 35018 British India Lines self-inflicted disgrace in 2017 when she failed on her maiden run (in preservation) into York.

She double headed back to Carnforth (I think it was) gallantly leading 60009 Union of South Africa a few days after. [I know, clearly an LNER and not LMS].

But anyway, I digress :) (happily).

Never say Never! Ha. :D

Now *that* is seriously spooky. I just reached out my hand and picked up that *exact* sign. A friend of my sister bought it as a 'gift' for me - yesterday, at Bodmin General. I pretended to be pleased - but would much rather have had a miniature 'Bodmin General' roundel to add to my collection...

Ha! Coincidence! :)
I would have bought one, but I didn't as I decided to spend my money on some old books instead!

I can't read that pic; what does it say? :| :)
The "Rail Enthusiasts Disease" one? I can barely read it. It says something along the lines of "To help cure someone with the disease, offer them lifts to heritage railways (where they can talk with others who have the disease), drink, food, and a place to stay overnight."
You can buy it on Amazon.

You appear to not actually be interested in reading what I am trying to say. Not a problem; thankfully, the forum has an ignore button. Bye.

For the record, more than happy to debate the issues with people who engage in reasoned discussion and explanation of points of view. But, "I am stating you are wrong," when the topic is purely a matter of subjective opinion, just doesn't cut it.

Its not subjective though is it? You have stated something as fact and i have countered that by telling you it is not fact. That is not subjective and I would ask you to ask any driver guard or any railway worker who has been involved in something like this if it hasnt affected them as you claim and i think you will get a very different answer.

I have read The Railway Magazine and it says that FS will be fitted with some front-facing CCTV cameras. What does everyone think about this? If they are big and obvious, then it's a no from me. Otherwise, the BTP should carry on!

I think they'll be useless unless people consider being caught on camera to pose a threat. Even without CCTV the number of people caught on camera has far surpassed the number of times that we've heard of trespassers having action taken against them.

Honestly, The bigger and the higher quality the better! Maybe they should be able to be removed at specific locations en route for photo opportunities, but in this case the railway must come first and spotters come second. Too much disruption has been caused by those acting dangerously and illegally.

Interesting points. I hope that on heritage lines they are removed and for the mainline they are permanent.

Whether or not it's a 'no from me', don't think you get a vote.....

Maybe persuade some felow enthusiasts that it's not a good idea otherwise the operational railway will do what it needs to do to stop some of this mimdless behaviour.

The engine was running on the mainline last weekend - I’ve not heard about any issues this time. It was widely publicised in this area as well on many non railway related facebook groups.

For all this tresspass and such, there seems to be very few photos of that perfect shot people were so desperate to get...
If it's for a private collection, there's barely any point in straying onto the line to get it, surely?
I understand some people may not want to share their images if it shows they've clearly broken over the fence but I honestly don't see the gains.

People trespass to get good photos and then they keep them for themselves as they don't want people to steal them - that's another reason.

Your point is fully valid. But the fact that it's in a private collection doesn't mean that a photo can't be good. I bet that there are millions of excellent photos which people have kept to themselves.

Plenty more issues this weekend judging from Twitter.

Surely it's now time to suspend the Scotsman until a serious review of issues. It's clearly now a matter of when there is a major incident, not if.

Time to get it off the railway so that a proper look can be taken at the issues
