I got an invite on Monday for stage 2 assessmentsHas anyone on this forum that is waiting for assessment stages heard anything recently ?
Congratulations how long have you been waiting since application stage if you don’t mind me asking ?I got an invite on Monday for stage 2 assessments
Thanks very much, bud. Appreciate it.Use the online GA chat, like many others have and they will only confirm if you have passed their online sjt. They will say they will email with dates etc but could take months.
I emailed that one and they didn’t reply. I appreciate they must be busy. But they never seem to respond
A week ago mateWhen did you email ? They got in contact with me 3 days after I emailed
A week ago mate
I applied on April 5th. I found out on live chat that I passed SJT. But I was hoping to find out about assessment dates. It’s odd as some people applied in may or later And have been given dates alreadyIt is frustrating :/ are you wanting to know about outcome of the sjt ? When did you apply

Norwich mateYes I agree no method to the madness it seems . Where did you apply for ?

Nothing!!! Still waiting on a reply after completing SJT. But then I did apply for Liverpool St and Ilford. Both of which I don’t believe have vacancies. Fingers crossed something soon aye.Anyone heard anything since? Anyone got stage 2 or DMI interviews yet
Had an email today saying that my previous passes for stage 1 and 2 meet GAs standard, however there are no current vacancies at liverpool street or bishop stortford and i will be contacted when they open up. Anyone else have any information on this?
I don't understand why they are advertising depots with no vacancies then.
It should be pass DMI medicial then when a space opens up you are entered into the link.
Frustrating process

Sounds like the railway industry all over! I'm in the same boat with Crossrail (passed everything and in holding pool as no vacancies) and still waiting to hear from GA, I chose Colchester and Bishops Stortford as my depots so I guess I need to hope they have vacancies at Colchester else I'll be trapped in the holding pool of uncertainty again!
From what I understand a holding pool is basically “you’ve passed everything and we will let you know when a job is available, but carry on your life as normal for now.”So what do people do when they’re in holding pool? If they’ve already left their previous job once started as a trainee.. or is the holding pool before you start driving hours?
A holding pool or talent pool is before you’re offered a job generally. Once you’re lucky enough to be fished from said pool you’ll be offered a job pending medical etc.So what do people do when they’re in holding pool? I’ve never known anybody offer a paid trainee train driver course? You’d have to start as a trainee even if you did this (if it was possible) as you’d not have enough times served to go in as a qualified driver?I haven’t heard nothing. Passed SJT back in early May, was going to do the trainee depot driver SJT but decided against it, but not to fussed about depot drivers role. Think it’s bad no one gets back to you, I’m wondering if you actually pay to do a course to do Mainline trainee driver might be a better and faster way to get into it.
Yes sorry I meant just the assessments, because so many people have applied for this it leaves you no chance, well that’s how it feels at the moment anyway lol. Thought doing the assessments yourself could speed the process up massively. Although could be quite expensive to do.I’ve never known anybody offer a paid trainee train driver course? You can potentially pay for the assessments if that’s what you meant?
There’s divided opinion as to whether or not paying out to do the assessments privately is advantageous to be honest. My view (and to be fair it seems to be backed up by my progress to DMI on a couple of occasions) is that having the assessment passes already helps to get progressed where if you didn’t have them, may not be the case with assessment centres etc. You’re naturally more desirable if a TOC doesn’t have to put you through psychometric assessments. Why wouldn’t you be?Yes sorry I meant just the assessments, because so many people have applied for this it leaves you no chance, well that’s how it feels at the moment anyway lol.
