The growing problem of knife crime

This post is *extremely* wise.

It’s all very well being right over a seat reservation or when someone has a bag on a seat, or whatever, but being in the right is no consolation if this ends up being the outcome. Worth remembering when people on here advocate moving belongings and the like, and as this case shows being well built means not a jot.

The way the country is going it's head down and mind your own business. Looking at someone wrong can get you stabbed, let alone a stand up row.

It definitely feels like things have got worse in the last few years. Personally this all feels rather - uncomfortably - closer to home after a fatal stabbing almost on my office doorstep, and a relative being robbed at knife point in London and then being chased through the streets by a gang to shouts of “this is a black area you shouldn’t be here”.

You’re right that alarmism should be avoided, but equally there *is* a big developing problem with violent crime, mainly in London but as this incident shows not exclusively so.

The statistics show that if you are to be murdered it will be by someone you know and most often by your lover. Murder is uncommon and random murder is extremely uncommon.

I agree there is an issue with knife crime in London which I think has two causes: culture amongst young disenfranchised people and the vast reductions in police numbers ( and in the justice system generally)

It also doesn't help that there seems to be an alt right campaign of disinformation about London, crime and the Mayor of London generally (who seems to be guilty of being brown! ) rather than towards the real culprits of the cuts!
