Wakefield Kirkgate has one only at the end of the day from Huddersfield, all others continue through to Castleford now and all other services run through.

Macclesfield has a couple of Northern stoppers to/from Manchester terminate in platform 3 each day - all the rest continue on to Stoke.

Beverley is also one which has a couple of Northern service starting/terminating in the AM and the late evening, remaining services run through to Bridlington and Scarborough. Also some Hull Trains from London Kings Cross start/terminate here.

Near a bunch of sheds that aren't 66s.
Broadstairs has a few services terminate during the High Peak from St Pancras and Victoria (?)

Harwich International has a small, irregular offering of 'boat trains' from London and Ipswich terminating.

Sellafield has a single train per day that terminates there on weekdays, Ambergate has one train per day that starts there.

Close to home... there are only a few LNR mainline services which start/terminate at Bletchley, though since the new timetable I couldn't tell you what they are.

I guess the Marston Vale knackers it as far as this thread goes, though.

Marsden has 3 terminators that run non-stop from Huddersfield in the evening peak. They wait for a while and then continue towards Manchester with new headcodes.

Does Markinch have the sole originating and terminating train to/from Glasgow Queen Street?

Kilwinning has one weekday service that originates there to run to Glasgow Central, although no corresponding terminatiing service (not what the OP asked tbf). Prestonpans similar with Edinburgh.

One service daily terminates/originates at Irvine to/from Glasgow Central, instead of running to Ayr.

New Cumnock has one daily service that terminates from Glasgow Central, with Auchinleck having one originator back to Central.

Dalmally has one train terminating and originating to/from Oban on school days.

Shipley has x3 terminating services each weekday evening starting with the 20:30 Bradford Forster Square to Shipley then hourly give or take the odd minute with the last being the 22:25 from Bradford. All use platform 5.

OK, I feel sorry for Chathill which only has two services a day Monday - Saturday, both of which start and finish there, average number of passengers per train under 2.

It's a nice walk to Seahouses and Bamburgh, but not much else nearby unless you farm there.

Hednesford has only one timetabled train terminating there in the very early morning at 00:07 (23:18 from New Street), but with the unreliability of LNR's timetable you're likely to see more throughout the day terminating there instead of Rugeley.

Some examples from Merseyrail:

Birkenhead North and Birkenhead Central each have exactly one terminating service:-
  • The 0807 Chester to Birkenhead North via Liverpool loop
  • and the 0752 Chester to Birkenhead Central via Liverpool loop (both Mon-Fri only)
Sandhills has one service which terminates there:-
  • 2306 Hunts Cross to Sandhills (Sundays only)
Hooton has two terminating services:-
  • 1603 Moorfields to Hooton (M-F only)
  • 2330 Chester-Hooton (daily)
Hamilton Square is another one:-
  • 2319 Ellesmere Port to Hamilton Square via Liverpool loop (daily)

Goole has only three terminators, the two from Leeds via Whitley Bridge and one late night arrival from Doncaster. Everything else passes through after calling.

Since the Huddersfield-Wakefield Kirkgate services were extended to Castleford, there are now just two services that terminate at Kirkgate. The last train in from Huddersfield doesn’t go any further, neither does the 0003 arrival from Sheffield via Barnsley.

Until the Canal Tunnels opened, there were one or two late night Kings Cross-Finsbury Park services, which I’m sure were the only services to terminate at FPK.

Didnt Broadstairs used to have one in the evenings and does it still? Or is my memory a bit hazy
Three starters in the morning, three terminators in the evening. There's an exit from Ramsgate depot facing Broadstairs which makes it easier (saves doing a double shunt at Ramsgate)

Winchester seems to have two starters (one in the morning and one in the evening) and two terminators Mon-Fri.

Caerphilly also only has four terminators.

Theres a (I think) 1604 train from Glasgow that terminates at Irvine. Theres also a service on Saturdays that terminates at New Cumnock, with the return working starting at Auchinleck

There is one train a week from Stalybridge to Stockport and back, does anything else terminate at stockport in regular service? (it's quite common to see trains late night trains from Manchester terminate at stockport during engineering works)
