They do. If a classic set works a classic diagram as scheduled then reservations are correct.
Are they set out specifically for a Classic then? Going up to seat no. 80.

Must be. As long as it's a classic HST when booked to be one then the reservations work fine.
Is the 1045 INV-EDB Mon-Fri likely to come an HST working in the near future?
Looking at the current timetable, it looks like Scotrail will be reducing the bike capacity on arrivals into Inverness from the south to 28 which at best, represents a 50% reduction with the refurbished HSTs. So much for active travel!

They usually put the reservations in one coach .
Remember from 20th August the following return to HST operation
0834 Ed-Inv
1248 Inv-Ed
1742 Ed-Inv
0944 Inv-Ed
1335 Ed-Inv
It appears 43131/7 moved from loughborough to Doncaster today to form set HA20

In the interests of balanced reporting, I'm sat at a table in the rear coach of a 170 as the 1742 Edinburgh-Inverness and people are complaining that the aircon is too cold! Also loads of space after Kirkcaldy, being the school holidays there wasn't anyone standing even after Haymarket, and a very efficient trolley.Well currently sitting on a hot stuffy 170 just north of Perth heading to Inverness, no trolley not a pleasant journey. Cant get the rebus on here quick enough.

By contrast the last two Scotrail HSTs (one refurb and one classic) I've been on in warm weather have been stuffy, and I was disgruntled by the classic because there were no tables to be found.
There's nothing in particular to be taken from this other than it's occasionally possible to have a comfortable journey on a 170!
Yes they are awful for table availability. The Classics have 4 tables in standard, which isn't a lot to be fair.

I love the way ScotRail know that the 1248 INV -EDB and the 1333 EDB - INV Are not operating with HST's but still book them as HST's. I was booked B73A today in the accessible space of said HST. What arrived was a 170 loaded to the hilt with people and cycles all with reservations that were cancelled because it was the wrong type of unit.
If it was known that it wouldn't be an HST - why continue to make reservations as if it were?
My advice to anyone who thinks that they've got a reservation on Scotrail at the moment is to forget it. Of the last 20 or so trips I've made by both HST and 170 only once, in a refurbed HST between Aberdeen and Glasgow, were there accurate up to date reservations placed. The Classic sets do a mean number in old reservation tickets, one day I fully expect to come across one with 'GWR' printed on it.I love the way ScotRail know that the 1248 INV -EDB and the 1333 EDB - INV Are not operating with HST's but still book them as HST's. My post wasn't entirely serious, other than to say that in certain circumstances 170s can provide a better environment for me than a Classic HST. But I totally agree that if the refurb programme had run as it was supposed to then all of our travelling lives would have been transformed by now.Wouldn’t disagree with the blindingly obvious. Doesn’t change the fact that many HML services remain overcrowded a year after the HST was supposed to be serving the route.
Is that not a bit squished?
Yep , i would move to other coaches if was not busy . EMT do it on 158s too.
Perth HST driver training in progress ..

So they've resumed training then, or was it only Inverness that had stopped?
Anyone got any idea when this training g programme is due to end?

Remember their is only 1 training HST set for the depots to use inverness current driver fleet is nearly trained on the refurb power cars and door operations
They have the new drivers to train classic wise before allowed to do a refurb. And conductor training must be coming along well as last Saturday a refurb ended up on the 1939 out of Edinburgh this is the first inverness crew working since they have been in service
