Reported on WNXX Forum that 37418 was going to work this evening replacing 37421 but derailed when going to stock, splitting points

They're nice trains and all, but aren't they extremely outdated?

Yes, they're a short term solution (until 31.12.19) to a long term problem.
The long term capacity problem on the Valley Lines is made worse at the moment as 150 and 153 units need to go off for modifications (and a refurbishment).

whilst you'll never please all the passengers all the time, they are a marked step up from a pair of pacers coupled together, a short formed train or worse still no train.

Course they're better than the Pacers, but they date back to when steam trains were still in use. Nevertheless, I'd have them over the 142s, 143s, 144s and 150s any day!

No LHCS to Rhymney UFN. TFW say "staff are working hard" to get 37418 and 37421 back in service and no forecast as yet. 142+143 working 1701 tonight

Quite amusing that pacers are covering for 37s which in turn are covering for late 769s which are supposed to be helping cover pacer withdrawal....

In between Training runs. It is not ETS fitted by the way.
They should have used pressure ventilated stock to give more locomotive options.

It would also be easier to listen to the thrash!

Thank you Philpe. I was on that train :( Hoping things might get sorted over the weekend so we have chance of the two locos running passenger services next week. Repairs seem to take a while though.

Yes it is and it's likely to be top and tail with 37025 as it will be used on training runs in between services

It’s just been announced at Cardiff Queen Street that the 2R20 1701 Cardiff Central to Rhymney has been cancelled, and that this is due to a fault on the train which is currently at Canton depot.

Yeah can confirm, 37421 is sat at canton. It's ticking over with its headlights on though mind! A double 142 Rhymney is on its way from canton too.
