Unlucky coincidence for Hull, today was the day they announced their new livery.

The sooner these arrive for HT, the better. They're having a torrid time of it at the moment with the 180's.

Being an open-access operator, has much been said about the interior for these units? Presumably it's not subject to the usual DfT mandated standard?

Bit late to this discussion (I know). Since this order is part of the GWR 802 order with Eversholt Rail for First Group, I would expect the interior to be the same as the GWR units.

The TPE ones we also part of the same orders were they? They’re getting TPE specified interiors, so highly likely Hull Trains is specifying their interior.

Aren’t the GWR ordered 802s having the same basic DfT specified interiors of the 80x?

In service for December 2019, according to the First Group statement I linked to in the post above

No, there were not. Completely separate procurement for both fleets - nothing to do with the GWR options. But there was a cost to moving away from the Hitachi standard interior spec. and delivery timescales would have slipped if they did. December 2019 was a must because that was when the new ECML Timetable was originally scheduled to be in and 180 units would have been too slow for the likely new paths that HT would have been offered.

Hull Trains £60 million Class 802s to arrive from August.

Construction of five Class 802/3s for Hull Trains remains on schedule, with the first set due in the UK on August 29.
The five sets are now all at Pistoia, Italy, where they are being assembled by Hitachi. They will follow the final sets for TransPennine Express being built at the site. The bodyshells were constructed at Kasado, Japan. Seats are being manufactured by Fainsa in Barcelona.
HT is investing £60 million in the trains, which will enter traffic this November and replace the four Class 180s and two High Speed Trains it currently uses.

Richard Vernon, Fleet Project Engineer at Hull Trains said: “We are on schedule for the first train to arrive in the UK in August, and by November the first train will be in passenger use.”

I wonder if we'll finally get a seat selection map on HT's website when these start running?!

At least, unlike for example Northern, they dont need to train hundreds of drivers for just one route so it may happen fairly quickly.

They've been borrowing TPE's new 802s for crew training (as far as I'm aware), so I suspect they want a very swift rollout of them.

May HT not have any choice? The 180s are wanted at MML promptly aren't they?
From what I can remember they started borrowing the TPE IETs before the East Midlands franchise was awarded.

Also unless I'm mistaken don't Grand Central have first refusal over where the HT 180s go?

Clearly not, as they have been announced internally as going to the East Midlands franchise.
