Hi,

Does anyone know when weekend tickets will become available for York to London. According to LNER advance tickets are available up to October 6th, except 21/22,28/29 Sept and 5/6 Oct. I'm getting slightly concerned as I've booked one-way on Friday 20th and don't want to have to shell out a fortune to come back.

I've set up an alert for 21st on the same basis. The train times on RTT seem to be the same as the previous week (reduced service owing to work at Peterborough), so the delay is odd.

Nothing was released this week (trust me I know) so we may catch up in the next couple of weeks.
So, I signed up for the alerts service to let me know when these tickets would be available. What a complete and utter waste of time that was. I just checked the website this evening to find that 22 Sep is now available. How long it's been available I don't know, but there weren't many cheap tickets left.

I'm not feeling much appreciation coming from LNER at the moment.

Was this Trainline? Was it an obscure journey? Because they have a footnote on their website that says

** We attempt to detect when Advance tickets have been released each day by analysing the results of millions of users’ journey searches. Occasionally there may be dates or routes that haven’t yet been detected, or there may be interim dates when timetables and Advance tickets are yet to be confirmed by train operators. We’ll do our very best to alert you as soon as our systems detect availability.

I think this may have caught me out last year: I asked for notification of Liverpool to Brading, and never heard anything beyond a final 'sorry, we haven't found anything' message. Even assuming that Brading translates as 'anywhere on the Isle of Wight' I can imagine that we may have been the only people looking for that journey that day, so the Trainline wouldn't have any source data to work from. Or maybe no quota were ever released.

It happened to me too with ticket alerts for the bank holiday weekend in August when I used LNER for Kings X to Inverness ticket alerts

Was opened yesterday morning if you pm me your email address I'll chase up why no alert was sent.

I've found that the LNER alerts generally take 24 hours to come through, by which time all the cheapest tickets have all but sold out.

It was lner.co.uk. The journey was either York to Kings Cross, or possibly York to Crayford. In both cases the only reservable bit is York to Kings Cross and I'd laugh uncontrollably if anyone suggested that was obscure!!!!!

I tried the LNER website at 8am on Friday 9th without success wanting to book tickets for 22September. Tried again at 10am and they were released and I got what I wanted. I was not signed up for alerts but just persistent, which I appreciate is not possible for a lot of people.

From experience, LNER ticket releases do seem to take place at around 10am on a Friday.

I'm waiting for 29th September and 5th October. I guess the best advice then is to look again on Friday morning?
