Newcastle,
Does anyone have any information on the signal box at Wylam? There were two (temporary) vacancies that came up a couple of weeks back. Thanks

He’s considering whether to interview you or not. It could stay like that for months however so don’t get too excited just yet

Ok Thanks. I have read through a few of these threads and there seems to be a bit of a waiting game involved. I think I have been relatively lucky so far it’s been quite swift to this point. Fingers crossed.

I’ve had one at under consideration now for two months I think it is. It might even be longer!
It’s all down to the individual hiring manager at this point. It’s also peak summer holiday time as well!

Hi, I've applied for the job at grindleford that was open a couple weeks ago. On most of these threads you guys talk about the status of application, id there a specific place you can see this as I've just been relying on the email updates. (Currently waiting to find out if I got an interview.)

Did anyone receive anything back about the Fiddlers Ferry position?

And does anyone know when Beeston Castle SB is due to close?

There is a “but” with closing dates on external adverts - it seems that the job may still be advertised internally even when it’s closed to external applicants. I have a current one that closed six weeks ago but HR told me they were still waiting on people completing tests.

Hi, just looking for a little help...
I have an interview next week for a grade 2 signaller in Middlesbrough - just wondering if anyone knows where I can find out any info regarding the box?
I have also read online that interviews may include the 8 non technical skills, yet I cannot find them on the NR website and the recruitment team did not mention these when I called.
Just looking for some info on the interview and the job if possible.
As many hints and tips are welcome lol
Thanks
How did the interview go?? Was it as expected??

Internal applicants don’t do the tests

Also take what HR tell you with a pinch of salt!!

Im sure internals do the tests because it asks you if you are a signaller already

If your a signaller already and therefore internal, you don’t do the tests.

Everyone else does (there maybe a few exceptions (like LOM etc that also doesn’t as mentioned above)

I can assure you Signallers do not undertake any testing when going for new signaller jobs.

However......

They did, when the assessment process was changed/messed up about 5 years ago it was decided in the interests of fairness to make Signallers do the assessments new entrants did - even if you applied for a lower grade or the same grade but at a new location.

This resulted in Signallers who wanted a move to a lower grade box having to sit a battery of assessments for in effect a demotion !

Needless to say when Signallers where failing the assessments designed to ascertain whether the candidate was capable of undertaking the role that this was rightly dropped!

This is where in part the 70 questions came in, at least the Signaller aimed technical questions on there at least.

A grade two upwards signaller (grade being Crossing keeper) only has to complete the application form/70 questions and interview.

Aw ok...

Only because some questions are asking have you been a signaller for so many months and years and signaller related questions delays/crossings etc which i always have to answer no too lol

Interview went well, as expected, nice and relaxed. The Hiring Manager and lady who interviewed me were very friendly and made me feel very comfortable. Just waiting to hear back now, hopefully some news soon!
