Just booked Leeds to Nottingham and back for 20p. Quite chuffed, the whole trip will cost just over a tenner (extra cost of weekly season to CHF compared to my usual day return combination for commute - makes sense if doing an extra day, plus a CHF to LDS SDR, plus 20p). Incidentally I've cost Northern a pretty penny, paid PayPal (which I usually hate) and got my tickets sent first class post for free!

I wonder what happens if I claim for delay repay should I get delayed. It'd be worth it just to annoy them having to give me a few pence!

If it ended up being long enough you'd be eligible for free Northern tickets...

You can also get a 10p fare from Nottingham to Carlisle, which is ~ 6 hours! However, I couldn't spot one that would allow a day trip. I don't like the idea of missing a train, and ending up having to buy a ticket at walk on prices for a long journey. As the saying goes ... Keep It Simple Stupid

Otherwise known as KISS - good one :)!

I hope that this "app" internet flash sale business doesn't replace the more traditional £10 rover offer.

One thing springs to mind though - with these cheap fares, is it likely to result in overcrowding on practically all Northern services at all times of the day between now and late September?

I'm sure a lot of people will buy tickets then not bother to travel. Southern trains did the same sale a few years ago.

They're advances, so assuming that Northern have got their quotas right, this shouldn't be a problem.

And there are only 80,000 tickets. If they're spread evenly over the 30 days of September, that's rather less than 2,700 tickets per day - and I'd expect at least some of the tickets to be people getting a regular journey for less, rather than additional travel.

So as long as it's been implemented with a little bit of care and attention, everything should be ok.

Rather pleased with myself; booked 20p days out from Sheffield to Lincoln, Nottingham, Manchester and Bridlington as well as a day trip from Leeds to Kirkham & Wesham to tick AFC Fylde off my "football grounds to do" list.

I can't seem to find any 10p out of Newcastle, looking at Newcastle to Whitehaven, which is a listed route, 1/9/19.

I've got 10p tickets for two connecting journeys LIV -> NLW and ERL -> LDS (on CTR -> LDS route). If I change at ERL I'll be ending short on the first ticket. I don't imagine it'll be a problem but if it is would there be any penalty beyond having to pay full fare LIV -> ERL?

I just picked up my tickets from Leeds TOD....

All sixty of them. :) The Scouts are going to find out about railways....

There was an LNER staffer there who looked rather surprised and enquired if they were all for me and was somewhat amazed when I showed her the bookings and the prices. She thought it was a rather good offer as well and bemoaned that LNER never do that for people :)

If anyone's coming to the forum meal in York on Wednesday 4 September, 10p tickets are available on the 1641 from Leeds (which is the 1421 off Blackpool North). If you want a 10p ticket back again you'll have to stay in York till the 2119 back, otherwise there's reasonably priced TPE singles for earlier return times.

I used the app to purchase a return from Liverpool South Parkway to Man Piccadilly for a Saturday in September for 20p.

Both outward and return are Lime Street to Man Airport so should be 195's.

And I'm returning from a holiday into Manc Airport on a Sunday at end of September and bought a single to Liverpool South Parkway for only 10p.

Train I'm booked on is 1.5 hours after my scheduled flight arrival time and should also be a 195 as it's a direct service.

If my flight is severely delayed and I miss the train I will only lose 10p, but will have to fork out about £17 for a new ticket!

More to the point, I'm travelling up Return First Class to Lancaster in order to go across to Leeds and back for 20p.

Any delay and I'll be into them for the whole fare, never mind 20p!

(Incidentally, supposing I decide I'd rather Keighley than Leeds, getting off short. Any problems with that do you supoose? I'm easy really, but would be a nice option.)

It would be great to see more forum members at these events, so if anyone is interested and has any questions, please do feel free to contact me! :)

We also have forum meals coming up in places like Bradford on the 12th (and 10p fares are available for that too, except I'll have to stretch to £7 ;))) because I can't quite leave work early enough to take advantage!)

Or, subject to availability, just book another 10p ticket or two for later connections, which is a cheap "insurance policy". That's what I did when booking from Manchester Airport to York (which I was amazed to find readily available!)

60! blimey. What a result for The Scouts :)
How long did it take to pump them out?
LNER staff must have thought something had gone wrong with the TVM, or won the jackpot or something; which you did in way!

been a having a look at viable routes from stations on the page , it says from Man Vic to York for 10p.
No tickets available- thought it was TPE anyway, unless I'm missing a trick.

Northern offer advance fares on their Leeds services with a change at Hebden Bridge onto the Blackpool to York service. The App/website will offer when asked for Northern services only.

Where it says 'Click here to check if slower routes with cheaper tickets are available.' Click that, then choose the '£0.10' option.
One example is:
Saturday 14 Sep 2019 Manchester Victoria MCV to York YRK
Depart MCV 14:36

At the bottom of the results page, it says "click here to check if slower routes with cheaper tickets are available."
Then click on "Check for trains" alongside the 10p fare and they will come up where available.

Booked Newcastle to Carlisle on the 5th of September return for 20p, very happy saving over £11 on the railcard price for off peak day return.

Are Northern likely to enforce the rule against travelling short on these tickets?
