I'm most of the way through the driver recruitment. I've unfortunately discovered I have some red/green colour-blindness after looking at the Ishihara test at home, so will obviously fail the medical. For those who didn't pass their medical, were you offered any other roles?

For what it’s worth I wouldn’t rely on home testing. I’d go to a reputable optician and request proper test conditions.

I thought I had issues with my eye sight (and colour perception) but was fine when properly tested.

In terms of alternative roles being offered I did read of this happening on a gwr thread at some point .

But I’m guessing unless you’re internal it’s very unlikely.

How far along in the process are you? Don’t worry until you have had your medical and been told you have haven’t passed.

To echo what others have said, I certainly wouldn’t call it a day just yet. Go to the medical and cross that bridge when you come to it, you might be surprised.

I wear glasses and my new prescription wasn’t ready when I went for medical so had to attend without them and was told I could go back for the eye test. Turns out I can see well enough without my glasses to not officially need them to drive so I passed!! Defo still go, as others have said, u might be surprised. Good luck!!

Total opposite for me! I went for my Medical and only just scraped through the Ishihara test yet I have no colour blindness whatsoever. The person doing the test failed to tell me that in some instances there may not be a number ( oh OK, maybe I misunderstood) and so I was partly guessing/straining to find a number somewhere. We got to the last slide and it was obvious there wasn't a number there and said so. She said 'That's fine. There isn't one'. I told her about previous slides and asked if I could have another try but she said you're allowed a couple wrong so not to worry.

As others have said, see what happens on the day. Trying a test like this on a computer screen could well vary the results. Best of luck !

When I had my medical they discovered I was colour blind as well.
I tell you, it came completely out of the purple to me.
